Commercial Description:
Each year, when people are starting to unpack their winter clothes and replenish their firewood, our tiny brewery in the coastal redwoods of Northern California makes seasonal preparations of a different kind. As the cold arrives, we release a unique beverage created to add warmth to even the coldest and darkest of winter's days. Winter Solstice Seasonal Ale begins with a very high original gravity to create a hearty and spicy brew with a deep amber hue and a smooth finish. Anderson Valley Brewing Company wishes you the very best for the holiday season and the New Year.

Copper amber color with deep tan head. Sweet malty aroma mostly caramel. Flavor is not far from a vanilla cream ale which becomes a bit much by the end of the glass. Creamy on the palate. Interesting use of spicing

Clear honey colored with 2cm of beige head. Aroma is sweet with worty caramel notes. Taste carries these elements along with a spiced grape soda aspect that I find interesting. Biscuity finish. $2/12oz

Cloudy red-brown with a thick light tan head. Smell is sweet and herbal. Like honey and parsley. Flavor is just weird, sweet and herbal. Strong parsley aftertaste. I don,t think I can finish this.

V excessive large foamy head. Tons of carbonation lining the glass with bubbles. Clearish body with a light brown or copper tone. Head settles down leaving a sticky lace on the glass. first whiff I got was of a lemon-line characteristic, like 7-up or sprite soda. underneath that is some malted brown sugar and caramel. taste is much more brandywine-like with candied sugars emerging where the lemon-lime aroma was. pleasant taste, but thin mouthfeel. 4v 6a 8t 2p 14o

Re-rate, 2009 version, bottle, same basic notes, though less citrus on first whiff and a much more creamy, filling mouthfeel. Much better.

Pour is a deep red with a thin thin white head. Nutty with butterscotch and some light spice. Not my style, but still well done.

Deep Brown with a medium sized off white head with good lacing. The aroma is of molasses, oak, brown sugar and a slight hint of butter oddly enough. The flavor is of butterscotch, molasses, brown sugar and again a hint of butter; the taste is somewhat similar to pie crust. The textute is creamy. I love it, its right up my alley...THOSE HIPPIES AT ANDERSON VALLEY HAVE DONE IT AGAIN!

2008 Bottle Pours with an average sized light brown head and a clear bronze body. Aroma of wet dog, butter, brown sugar, molasses, corn nuts and cereal. Taste is brown sugar, pie crust, butter, light peanuts, and butterscotch. Water like mouthfeel and light bubbles.
