| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 10, 2009 12oz. Beer is cloudy due to bottle conditioning, deep red turning to brown. Aroma is yeasty giving way to some malt and grass. No hop aroma and just a touch of bitterness. Roasted malt takes center stage in the mouth with malt and grass supporting from the nose. Pleasant to drink but doesn’t feel like I’m going anywhere. Fine to drink, especially at just $1.33 a bottle. Yay beer! Cletus (5058), Connecticut, USA

Mild aroma is sweet. Nuts, roast, and light coffee. Tastes roasty with coffee and light floral notes. Just a shred of cocoa before a lingering bittersweet tail. Not bad, but not that great either. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 28, 2009 12 oz bottle. Pours a dark clear brown with a small khaki colored head. Aroma is roasted malts with a hint of coffee. Palate is a bit on the thin side with a fair amount of carbonation. First flavor is a bit of the hop, but that quickly fades and a bit of cocoa takes over. Also, some coffee notes as well as some nuttiness. Not as hearty as some porters, but a decent brew. Dark reddish brown, with very large tan creamy head that lasts. Taste is extremely roasty, charcoal-ish, nice bitterness, a little hint of nuts, almost no chocolate. Mildly bitter finish. The body is a little thin, but otherwise a nice offering. TaktikMTL (2786), Montréal-Nord, Quebec, Canada
