| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Maybe my favorite of the AC beers. Rich and sweet, strong on the malt, and also on the coating mouthfeel. Lovely big bold beer. Very nice. Not much in terms of hops, but that’s not what I’m looking for in a Dubbel. hapjydeuce (773), Del Mar, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jan 11, 2009 Sampled on Christmas Eve in Monrovia with Glenn, Katie and the rest of the family. Deep ruby brown color with an opaque center. Nice 1/2 inch head that gives off a fruity aroma of raisin, pear and plum. Flavor is sweet and malty with a nicely rounded candy sugar character, with nuances of coriander and tangy green apple. Finishes warm with a medium-sized body. Pretty easy to drink a bomber, but anything more is just too much sugar. Enjoyable. Saarlander (1579), Rancho Cucamonga, California, USA

Abit sweeter and more fruit than was expected really fruity thats ok but would have liked abit more bitterness still a very good brew for the price. will drink again! Poured a medium amber brown with a small beige head. Both flavor and nose resembled some kind of a farmhouse funk.....no bueno. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA

Lots of lace. Metallic, funky, skunky that seems unintentionally infected. Not so impressive. bsierra (213), Vista, California, USA

Poured with a deep amber hue, very interesting molasses and candy fruit nose. The taste is rich with belgium yeasts and cloves with a nice spice touches. The ABV is very well concealed and balanced. All and all this is a very, very nice Belgian strong ale and one I will enjoy again and again. Very much worth your time~ Nice job on this one Mike Bowe! stefanje (947), (Santee) San Diego, California, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 9, 2008 Updated: Apr 6, 2008650 ml bottle from Bev4less in Santee. Pours a murky amber color with a small cream head that immediately dissipates. This brew fizzed audibly like a cola during pouring. The aroma is strong with Belgian yeasts, persimmons and candied plums. The flavor is close to the aroma with added light spices, brown sugar, and a small amount of caramel. The mouthfeel is full and the carbonation is light. Finishes sweet and dry with a bit of tartness and a high ABV warming kicking in. Overall: This is really a very subtle and complex concoction; not one of the greats, but very enjoyable. Recommended.
