Aroma is malty, fruity and sweet. A medium to full bodied amber. Malts are caramel and toffee, slightly sweet. Hops are a touch citrusy. Lots of non-sweet malts in this beer, kind of refreshing for an amber. Lots of malts flavor. Nice carbonation. WOW, not sure I would ever say this but this is a very drinkable amber. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and dry. Aftertaste is slightly bitter. wbdace (42), los angeles, California, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 30, 2005 12 oz. bottle purchased as a single from Whole Foods. Pours maple color with a moderate white head that diminishes rapidly and leaves little to no lace. Aroma is sweet and tart with sour fruit notes and floral hoppiness. Flavor is immediately sweet, with a sharp tartness and hop flavors coming in quickly. Sour fruit finis - not bad, but based on the other descriptions, I’m beginning to suspect that this one may be infected or heat affected. Medium body and moderate carbonation. I’ll have to buy another and re-rate. Sven (229), Lancaster, California, USA

Being a local to the area I have seen this beer on the shelves for years and figured it was just another here today gone tomorrow crap-ass beer. Well I am pleasantly wrong. Pours a deep hazy orange colour with a volumous off-white head. Massive malt aroma with an equally pungent hop aroma with some piney notes. Sweet caramel malts, mild bitterness, pleasant lingering aftertaste. Dare I say this is one of the best amber’s I have had? DrunkAsASkunk (847), Lynnwood, Washington, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 9, 2003 Jumpin Jimminy, that's a one malty meatball!!!! The aroma comes across as a helluva load of malt and vanilla...it literally reminded me of standing over a 50 pound bag of malt at a brewery and smelling that bag. It pours a murky and slightly cloudy orange center with a dark yellow outer core and a pearly white head. The taste is..big surprise..malty!!!! Its heavily malty, with a hint of vanilla, peachy bitterness, and a hint of sour coming almost from an overdose of malt. This is a damn good beer..i mean i love sweet malty beers...but the fact that its overly malty is what kills it...too much of a good thing kills a great beer. Nice carbonation level, dry, but not terribly so mouthfeel...just needs a slightly hoppier state and this is a 4.0 or more beer. DaSilky1 (2021), San Diego, California, USA

A thick earthy almost smokey feel to the flavor. A lill bit o spice appears from time to time. Decent brew. Quite refreshing. Fuckin a- i though i was eating an arby's sandwich, but i like arby's. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 13, 2002 A pretty mildly flavored but enjoyable ale (I’d go for amber but the brewer says ESB). Strikes a delicate balance between sweet malts and a lightly spiced fresh hop finish. Not too bad.
