| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 29, 2006 A thin dunkel with a clear brown body and a rapidly diminishing white head. The aroma is caramel with a light touch of roasted barley. The flavor is the requisite caramel malt with the non-requisite apple tartness. It finished on a bitter-sour note.

The flavor is about the same, semi sweet, medium body, dark malts. Finishes clean, decent dunkel. Damn, their bottle sanitation sucks, I got no sour notes from this but looks like most people did. bhensonb (4392), Woodland, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Feb 24, 2008 Bottle from Hi-Time. Rich aromas of dark roasted malt and chocolate. Very dark ruby brown color with a tan head that sticks. Medium body with creamy carbonation (though a bit coarse). Flavor is dark roasted malt with chocolate, touch of coffee, and hints of dark fruits. Finishes out balanced by some hop bitter. Heading towards a baltic porter, but nowhere so sweet as those. It’s a dunkel, but has flavors commoner to porters and stouts. This is a really good drink. beerguy101 (3972), Newark, California, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Apr 20, 2006 Note: Notes are for a possibly infected bottle. This dunkel pours a deep brown color from a 22oz bottle. Medium to large sized white foamy head. Aroma is slightly lactic and fruity, really sweet and sour. A medium bodied dunkel. Malts are lactic/sour and fruity sweet. Touch of caramel malt. Hops are slightly floral and earthy. This is the 2nd bottle of beer is a row I’ve tasted from this brewer. I hope it not yet another instance of a small brewer with a horridly bad bottling line. Bought 4 different beers that were delivered directly from the brewer to the beer store and 2 of them were off, the other two were very tasty. Behind all that lactic sourness is a nice sweet malt backbone. Again I will have to try this one gain some time. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is sour. Good lace. Aroma of spicy hops, toffee, chocolate and nuts. Overall pretty sweet. Taste is sugary with nuts and light coconut. Not offensive in anyway. A bit thing and too fizzy. Overall its an okay beer. riversideAK (2803), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 9/20 | Sep 19, 2007 Aroma is roasted malts. It pours a disgusting sort of diahrea water color. Actually, iced coffee in a way. Flavor isnt complex. its roasted and dry with a little bit of chocolate I guess. There is also some mold sour flavors, but it does not overpower. It really reminds me more of a porter or brown ale than a lager, as it did not really have any lager characteristics. Oh well.
