Commercial Description:
Angel City Dunkel is our newest beer, a rich dark lager. Brewed with six different malts, Angel City Dunkel is seamlessly smooth where even the hops take a back seat to the upfront rich dark malt flavors. Not unlike a porter or stout, Angel City Dunkel is a brew worthy of deep contemplation.

Bottle. Nice dark brown color with a decent size off white head that left some lacing for awhile. Malty aroma. A sweet malty flavor comes through with a slight bit of hops at the end. Enjoyed this brew a lot.

Fresh out of the brew tank at Angel City Brewing. Pours a deep and tantalizing brown hue. Aroma is that of sweet mature fruit and rich chocolate malt. The taste is really complex and has many different levels, the malt is flowing and is complimented nicely by the not overly sweet fruit and faint nuttiness. The finish is long and extremely enjoyable with a hint of mild hoppiness. I really was able to get into this and I again must give a big ’’’’HELL YA, THAT’s A DAMN NICE DUNKEL!’’’’ Try this and you’ll see what I’m talking about.

Ghetto looking bottle, but this is one good brew. Pours a deep murky mahogany with a thin layer of tan head that recedes to a ring. Smells of caramel, toffee, raisins, and some faint floral hops. Taste is all malt. Begins pretty chocolatey. Nice and malty. Add in some caramel and light hopping and some wheatiness, and you have a nice specimen of the style. Silky smooth in the mouth, like butter. I will be trying more from these guys.

Stoutl laiden with slight metal aroma, but in a nice way. Look is just fine, dark with a creamy head. Initial good tingle on the tongue. Taste is rather well behaved and friendly. Interesting tange constantly lurks on the left side of the tongue. This beer is a good experience. Dunkle, dunk good. Mild choco and dark background. Good friendly finish, not much bitter bite in this one. Easy to enjoy. Likable. Big thanks to cquiroga, enjoyed fully!

Pours a two finger light brown head that fades quickly leaving a trace of lace. Cloudy amber color. Good carbonation and medium bodied. Woody nose. Starts sweet/sour, fizzy cherry flavor, sour fruit finish. Different dunkel, all I was expecting was a dark lager. $2.99 for a 22oz bottle from Hi-Time Cellars Costa Mesa, Ca.

Bottle. Pours a dark redish brown with medium tan head. Aroma is mildly nutty/coffee. Flavor is semi sweet with a hint of chocolate and coffee. Decently malty, but not heavy. Very clean. I thought this was an excellent, if a bit simple, example of a dunkel.

Bottle from Hi-Time. Rich aromas of dark roasted malt and chocolate. Very dark ruby brown color with a tan head that sticks. Medium body with creamy carbonation (though a bit coarse). Flavor is dark roasted malt with chocolate, touch of coffee, and hints of dark fruits. Finishes out balanced by some hop bitter. Heading towards a baltic porter, but nowhere so sweet as those. It’s a dunkel, but has flavors commoner to porters and stouts. This is a really good drink.
