Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA May 27, 2006 hazy amber appearance with a thick pff white head that that left lacing.strange earthy/apple aroma.flavor was of sour rotten fruit.this is really, really bad.i dont think i could take another sip honestly.im not sure what happened here, but whatever is was,it aint good. 5000 (2409), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA May 20, 2006 Bottle: Reddish amber, hazy, moderate to large light beige head, frothy, fairly nice lacing. Immature fruit on the nose. Slight rubarb in fact. Where the hell is the hop bitterness? Odd bitter fruit flavor... no pine, citrus, or floral notes thats usually associated with an IPA. This isn’t even a Pale Ale. Ale maybe... Biting finish, sour fruit in fact. Not sure if this is spoiled, but based on the other rates I think this is normal for them. Thats too bad... Thanks for the new label Jordan!
elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA May 6, 2006 Bottle, from Hi-Time Cellar. Orange-amber color, aroma is strange and not at all as expected for an IPA. I assume that this bottle has a production problem or infection, way too many off flavors. Ughsmash (3981), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA May 5, 2006 Bottled. Poured a clear medium amber with a tall cap of rocky, off-white head... lots of rising carbonation. Rather sticky/sweet aroma with caramel, light fruits, and English floral hoppage. Flavor had a solid caramel and sweet fruity base.. plenty of floral as well as faint citrusy bitterness around the edges. Medium-bodied. Smooth malts and decently-placed bitterness. Caramel and pale malts plus spicy floral bitters at the finish. Nice beer, but definitely not to style. BückDich (4793), McCall, Idaho, USA May 3, 2006 Bottle: Hazy amber foamy off-white head. Nose of sweet candy and celery, light caramel. The flavor is tinny and metallic, full of sour dry malts and some bitter notes. Finishes bad. Just aweful. SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Apr 25, 2006 This IPA looked very promising but turned out to be a dud. The aroma was a old smell of caramel malt and similar to a very old and aged barleywine. Flavor is terrible and old with a very stale presence of malt and expired hops. I can’t imagine this ale tasting good at any point in time. I wish they had a date on their bottle so i could confirm that this is just a old bottle or thats just how this intentionally was supposed to taste. WhiteSoxFan (152), USA Apr 25, 2006 Super clear, deep copper, almost amber with a thin off white head. Head goes away almost immediately. No foam, no lacing. Huge caramel malt aroma, that’s all I get, maybe a little toffee. Flavor is bitter up front, then carmelly and malty in the middle, and a little bitter again in the finish. Detected more of the Goldings flavor as the beer warmed, tiny bit spicy and maybe a little lemony. Nice medium body. Different in an English kind of way. Not really my style, but appreciated. A little over carmelly, but good. mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Apr 22, 2006 Bottled. Pours a dark brown/amber color. Aroma is a little tart, not really very hoppy. Smells kind of off. Slight hoppiness. Not a west coast style. Some roasted caramel flavors. Overly sweet finish. Tastes like an amber. Some alcohol is present.
