| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 2, 2009 Updated: Jul 9, 2009What a weird idea for a beer. Still, I’m a sucker for Imperial Stouts so I had to give it a shot. Pours pitch black with a small tan head. Aroma is very earthy, with hints of chocolate and roasted malts. Flavor is very sweet with hints of alcohol, and a nice bit of hop in the finish. It’s by no means a "must have," but for $3.50 for a 22oz bottle, you could do a lot worse than a 10.2% ABV stout. badlizard (2352), Berkeley, California, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2009 Tasted at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Dark brown with a creamy tan head. Roasty mildly hoppy aroma. CDhocolate, coffee, and toffee taste with a vanilla finish. Ungstrup (15250), Frederiksberg, Denmark
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 27, 2009 Draft. A pitch black beer with a brown shine under a tan head. The aroma has notes of sweet malt, caramel, soy sauce, coffee, and some alcohol. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, soy sauce, roasted malt, and a good deal of alcohol, that tickles the tongue, the finish is dry, roasted, and bitter. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Jun 23, 2009 Bottle. Pours with a rocky mocha hued head over a very dark brown, near black body. Aroma of cocoa/chocolate, dark fruits, fusel alcohol, sugar cookie, light fruit esters and more alcohol. Taste is pretty bitter with cocoa and alcohol and a somewhat spicy/herbal hop character on the backend. Something felt a bit off, but I cannot identify what it is. Creamy mouthfeel and carbonation...10% might be optimistic, despite the alcohol notes I would guess this was closer to 9.0% or high 8s. Not horrible tasting though. nickd717 (1350), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | May 4, 2009 On tap at Boonville Beer Fest. Good but not impressive given the style. Black color with a small tan head. Roast, coffee, and chocolate on the aroma. Flavor is roasted malt, coffee, and a good amount of chocolate. Nice flavor but lacking a little in balance. Palate was also a little light for the ABV and style. can8ianben (903), Pasadena, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 6, 2009 Oh man - a massive 10% beer. Rich in flavor and finish. Strong smoky rich flavor - burnt toast and faint alcohol notes. Coats the inside of your mouth, coffee and chocolate tones. Incredibly chewy and complex. Bravo AC.
