Commercial Description:
An authentic German styled unfiltered wheat beer. Vitzen is the phonetic spelling for the German "Weizen", which means wheat beer. "Hefe", pronounced Hay fa, means with yeast and refers to the cloudy appearance of the unfiltered beer. Angel City Vitzen uses the Weinstephan wheat beer yeast which gives the beer it’s spicy flavor. Michael points out that this beer illustrates how much yeast can influence the flavor and aroma of beer and anyone who has been to Germany can attest to it’s authenticity.

On tap at Spring Street Smokehouse in L.A. Cloudy orange with a creamy off-white head, fading to a thick ring before long. Lots of bananas in the nose with some wheat and minimal lemon. The flavor again had loads of bananas with a tinge of spice. Minimal bitterness. Medium body with low carbonation. OK at best, not much balance of the esters and phenols.

Bottle at a ucla game. Aroma of sweet malt and banana with a bit of spice. Color was a darkish gold. Flavor was similar to the aroma with some ok wheat notes. A decent, but forgettable beer.

Bottle from becmo. Slightly cloudy amber pour. Sweet mlat, bubble gum, banana, and wheat. Not very interesting. The mouthfeel is too spritzy, I prefer hefe to have a soft creamier mouthfeel.

A $3.49 bomber I am not too hopeful for. Pours with a very minimal, quick to fade white head over a murky yellow body. Aroma of vanilla, bubblegum, caramel, banana, maraschino cherry, bitter hops and wheat. Taste is bland wheat, and mild hop flavors, with a plastic note and a ton of yeast based esters. Kind of boring. Medium viscosity, with kind of sharp bubbles. Mediocre.

22 oz. Pours a cloudy pale golden with average head. aAoma is banana, clove and wheat. Taste is about the same with mild citrus hops to back it up. Its not bad. At 2.99 for a bomber its worth a try. perfect for a hot summer day.

Tasted at the San Diego International Beer Festival. Cloudy yellow with a creamy white head. Earthy hops aroma and a banana bread taste with malty notes.

hey Chris, thank you kindly! Attractive vanilla aroma with some fuminess in there. Nice light brown hefe pour with sediment on the bottom. Fine minimalist carbonation on the palate. Flavors initially seem somewhat belgian. More dubbel-ish than the 5% stated here. Alky finish. Yes I guess this is somewhat an ale biased hefe.

Maybe a little too highly carbonated on tap at the LA Beer fest. Its my only complaint for this hefe with massive banana and clove flavors. Lovely yeasty spiciness and the classic cloudy yellow color with a thick white head.
