Commercial Description:
Not just for Scottish, McStukies is a smooth beer with hints of caramel and chocolate.

Drank a few pints and got a FREE growler of this after trading in a Surly growler that they thought was cool to display. Rich, smooth malts, with some sweetness. Good stuff.

Medium smokiness in the aroma with some malt. Flavor has bitter malt and very light smoke. Very dry. Considering the low abv, lack of fruit or sweet malt, and light smoke, this is more of a dry stout than a Scotch ale.

Growler courtesy of Skyview. Dark copper color with no head. Aroma is kind of like chalk. A slightly sour apple taste with a caramelly finish.

Thanks to skyview for sharing. Grainy nose on this dark brown pour. Watery body with a faint caramel characteristic.

On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy dark copper with a reddish tan head. The head stays around, even when you’re working on the first three brews of the Angry Minnow sampler. Aroma of slight maple and caramel. Tastes of toffee, citrus, and smoky peat. Clean finish with a hint of smoky yeast. One of the more sweet-style Scotch ales I’ve tried.

Lightly hazed, this beer pours a deep ruby brown color. An inch or so of soft tan foam tops the beer. Head retention and lacing are decent. Mild caramel malt in the aroma. Nice malty flavor: toffee, mild fruit, and a delicious smoky peat character. Gentle and tasty smoky aftertaste. Unlike some Scotch ales that I have tried, this one does not have a musty character. Since I don’t care for that mustiness, I am pleased. Medium bodied, softly carbonated.

On tap at the Angry Minnow... Pours dark brown amber color with thin whisps of off-white head. Aroma of roasted malts, bread and possibly brown sugar. Flavor again follows aroma, and finishes sweet.
