| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 1, 2007 Medium smokiness in the aroma with some malt. Flavor has bitter malt and very light smoke. Very dry. Considering the low abv, lack of fruit or sweet malt, and light smoke, this is more of a dry stout than a Scotch ale. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 31, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a hazy dark copper with a reddish tan head. The head stays around, even when you’re working on the first three brews of the Angry Minnow sampler. Aroma of slight maple and caramel. Tastes of toffee, citrus, and smoky peat. Clean finish with a hint of smoky yeast. One of the more sweet-style Scotch ales I’ve tried. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 15, 2007 Lightly hazed, this beer pours a deep ruby brown color. An inch or so of soft tan foam tops the beer. Head retention and lacing are decent. Mild caramel malt in the aroma.
Nice malty flavor: toffee, mild fruit, and a delicious smoky peat character. Gentle and tasty smoky aftertaste. Unlike some Scotch ales that I have tried, this one does not have a musty character. Since I don’t care for that mustiness, I am pleased.
Medium bodied, softly carbonated. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA
