Vinous and rather alcoholic aroma of yellow fruit, biscuits, oranges, dough and wood. Alcohol, orange-peels and crackers in the flavour. Full-bodied, Long warming finish of alcohol, and yellow plums with hoppy notes of grass and orange-peels. Too bad that the booze is to evident. JCB (1792), Durham, North Carolina, USA

It’s actually been a while since I’ve had ANY barleywine, so to some degree I enjoyed simply the reacquiantance with the style. But to a larger degree this isn’t a successful brew, with a mild tangerine flavor in the hops and a nutty malt quality clashing rather than integrating. A bit of a medicinal aftertaste, and a somewhat thin body too. Decent but not much more. GregClow (2515), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Golden-orange with no head. Aroma - not much there, just a bit of butterscotch and some alcohol warmth. Thin body. Flavour of butterscotch/caramel, thin malt, sharp hops, alcohol heat. Not very good - but hey, it’s a barley wine from Argentina, so it was worth it for the novelty value alone! HogTownHarry (4025), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 18, 2007 Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy and GregClow, my bottle via mgermani. Pretty ugly-looking pour - thin light orange, no head, a sort of light soap scum on top. Light aroma of alcohol, spruce branches and ... dunno - crushed dried herbs; butterscotch? (again, thanks Paul)? The taste is very thin - like melted brown sugar and butter, dry and a bit of dried softwood, alcohol. Watery, flat, sugary - a bit stale, a dried flower aftertaste. Weird. Barelywine? A typo, but a telling one ... hophead75 (1964), Boonton, New Jersey, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Dec 18, 2007 YEHA tasting. Orange in color. Aroma is caramel, some dirty yeast, and alcohol. Taste is moderately malty, with crystal malt and caramel- not malty enough though with a rather thin body and some off flavors. Not too bad considering this is made where it is. kp (8500), Woodstock, Georgia, USA
