Commercial Description:
The romantic term "barley wine" is used for the beers with an alcoholic content similar to the one of the wine. Of color bronze, the Antares Barley Wine is a hard licorosa beer and maltose, with an intense frutado accent, that remembers white grapes to us, originating of leavenings.

Bottle. Golden body with a medium off white head. Sweet malt, fruit and light hops in aroma. Flavour is alcoholic, sweet malty and light fruity. Not very pleasant and unbalanced.

750 mL courtesy of kp. Pours deep gold with copper core and tall off white head. The aroma is a bit spicy and mixes with the additional notes of apricot and mildly musty sweet malts. The taste begins with slick sweet malts and sweet apricots. It then gets a bit more fruity with apricot skin and apple skin tartness mixing with plenty of malty and fruity sweetness. The hops seem to show up with some late addition to the boil spice hop flavor and a dash of earthiness.

Wow! How IBrew2or3 comes up with some of these beers, I’ll never know. Pours yellow-brown with a white head. Nose is alcohol burn, raisin, green raisins, bitterness, and caramel. Flavor is about the same. Medium-bodied finishing with lingering bitterness. For a barleywine, it is ok. For an Argentinian brewery brewing an English style adopted by Americans, it is damned impressive.

An Argentinian barleywine... Very unique. High abv but not overpowering in flavor. Reasonable balance.

Bottle, 10%. Sweet vegetable aroma. Hazy dark golden colour. Very small stable white head. The flavour starts off with some rough bitterness, hint of caramel. Quite some vegetable in the flavour as well. Nowhere near good enough considering the ABV.
