Commercial Description:
The romantic term "barley wine" is used for the beers with an alcoholic content similar to the one of the wine. Of color bronze, the Antares Barley Wine is a hard licorosa beer and maltose, with an intense frutado accent, that remembers white grapes to us, originating of leavenings.

Hazy golden bronze. Almost no head. Sweet, musty, spicy, toffee aroma. Sweet toffee flavour and a bit too flat.

Lightly hazed, light golden liquid. Small lid of tiny beige bubbles. Light caramel, hints of corn syrup, and touch of floral hops and vanilla. Light malt liquor sweetness,. Somewhat sugary. Quite bitter with some light grass. Mildly hot. A cross between a malt liquor and a barley wine.

Clear, dark yellow, with a big, rocky white head. Nose is odd, off, with plastic/band-aid aromas dominating, some sweetness under there as well. Flavor is none too pleasant either, with plenty of cooked vegetable notes--squash, cabbage--and strong, almondy bitterness.

Thanks John for sharing this beer. My first from Argentina. The beer pours to a lightly hazy pine colored body with a clean white head. The aroma is corn flakes, simple pale malts, bitter grassy hops. The flavor is like a high abv bitter. Grassy hops meets corn flakes. The palate is grassy and bitter and has a drying finish.

Bottle shared late in the day at Terrapin opening. Not a favorite BW. Interesting to try something like this from South America. Poured a dark copper color with white head. Aroma was grainy. Don’t have too much on this beer, other than it reminded me more of a pilsner than a BW. Aroma and flavor were of grain. Not much bitterness or fruit here. Not really a BW.

Drinking from a bottle of Simpatico, as the picture shows - I love a good barley wine. This one is drinkable. It has a clear golden amber body with a frothy off-white head. No lace. The aroma is sweet pale malts, grapes, creamed corn, and nail polish. Kind of thick and oily in the mouth, it tastes pretty much as it smells, minus the creamed corn. There’s a very light bitterness in the finish. We need a new category for brews such as this, Strong Alcohol Delivery System.

Bottle. Lager-like aroma with a bit more malt and metallic notes. Sweet malt flavor with a bit of noble hops, caramel, and earth. Medium bodied. Lingering metallic sweet malt. See4ms more like a super-pils (not extra hops, just alcohol). Mouthfeel a bit oily.

Pours a turbid hue ranging from dark straw at the bottom to medium copper at the top, with off-white head. THe aroma is very corny and grainy and bready. I got rye, cornbread, pumpernickle, and fresh baked French bread in the nose, plus some mild fruit, and spirity heat. The palate heft was a tad light, and the flavor was bready corny malt mixed with mild fruity and hoppy notes. This one reminded me a lot of a slightly hotter and fruitier version of that bread beer in a glass that Heavyweight made last year.
