omhper (10728), Stockholm, Sweden Dec 26, 2006 Draught at the Tandil location. Very dark brown, fairly brief head. Spicy aniseed flavour with some peppery alcohol. With it’s clean mouthfeel and relatively light body (for an imperial stout) it is more drinkable than most beers of this style, and the roasty malt generates some interesting flavours. It is however to clean and straightforward to be really good in my liking. Oakes (6973), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 6, 2007 Brown colour, dull haze, no head. Lots of "brown" accents - toast, earth, turbinado and some wineyness. The body is thin, the toastiness and wineyness everpresent. Not at imperial stout, but once you get over this hurdle you can start to appreciate that it is a pretty tasty strong porter. The three main components are accented by some chocolate and dust notes. oh6gdx (6332), Vaasa, Finland Oct 12, 2007 Bottled (thanks omhper!). Rubyish brown colour, mediumsized brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, caramel, toffee, wood and some slight cellary notes. Flavour is roasted malts, toffee, some hops and caramel. A Quite nice done brew. harrisoni (5331), Ashford, Kent, England Nov 17, 2007 Bottle at Chris_o’s Magic Night. Reddish brown, lasting beige. Some coffee/choc. Odd off aroma. Bit thin in mouth. Bit grainy in mouth. Not much of an Impy Stout. Fine. TBone (5115), Pori, Finland Oct 9, 2007 Bottled (BB 03/2007)
Very dark brown, almost opaque, not much head. Plums, toasted malts, raisins and alcohol in the nose - shows signs of ageing (propably at least 1,5 years old bottle). Tar, woody hops, some dates. Long tarry roasted aftertaste. Interesting beer: imperial stout from Argentina, just a bit too offensive with its roast and tar.
