Commercial Description:
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: A classic English style. Antares Porter promotes digestion, in an abundant sea of foam, with notes of toasted malt and chocolately finish. In antiquity, doctors prescribed this beer, enriched with an egg yolk, for nursing mothers. Nowadays, many remember it for that reason, but prefer to enjoy the virtues of a malty palate accented with hops. With 5.5%abv, this beer is excellent with smoked meats and seafood.

Brown bottle. Pours a nearly opaque dark brown color with a slight head. Medium body, slightly roasted character with coffee notes. Finish was too sharp.

Bottled. A brown beer with a huge brown head. The aroma has light notes of butter and roasted malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, leading to a dry roasted finish. The body is light.

330ml bottle at Monks Café, Wallingatan. Slightly brownish head filled with lots of small dimples. A reddish tint to a very dark brown body. Rather inviting mid-sweet aroma of earthy malts and dark fruits. Sweet, and a bit diluted caramel malts in flavour added by brown sugar. Has got its moments, but gets too sweet and unvaried after a while. A roasted bitterness is almost missing (Stockholm, 01.09.2009).

[2003-20090219] 660mL bottle. Dusty wood aroma with mildly fruity raisin malt. Slightly hazy, dark brown amber body with a quick light tan foamy head. Woody fruit raisin malt flavour with a heavy smoky finish and long sweet aftertaste. Medium-full body is thin. Fair but smoky and a little boring.

Bottle (660ml) shared with HogTownHarry, garthicus, GregClow, jerc & mabel -- c/o HogTownHarry. Pours a dark reddish-brown with a small diminishing frothy off-white head. Aroma of roasted malt, caramel and a hint of coffee and chocolate. Watery flavour of caramel malt, slightly roasty, along with some coffee and chocolate. Light to average bodied. Not bad but quite dull, just O.K. at best.

2009-02-19. Very dark brown body with a quick tan head. Odd caramel molasses aroma. Flavour is similar, lightly smoky, earthy touches, dark malt. Average palate is fairyl smooth., lightly carbonated. Pretty meh, a bit of age compounds a weak base. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry
