Commercial Description:
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: A classic English style. Antares Porter promotes digestion, in an abundant sea of foam, with notes of toasted malt and chocolately finish. In antiquity, doctors prescribed this beer, enriched with an egg yolk, for nursing mothers. Nowadays, many remember it for that reason, but prefer to enjoy the virtues of a malty palate accented with hops. With 5.5%abv, this beer is excellent with smoked meats and seafood.

Bottle (22oz). Shared with blankboy , garthicus, gregclow, jerc and mabel. Deep clear reddish-brown, small frothy beige head. Dry, cola syrup aroma, burnt caramel, stale weeds. Taste - add cocoa, otherwise dry weedy malt soaked in sour cola. Thin, lightly acidic - sour and stale - best before "A" 08 - ehhh.

HogTownHarrys bottle, shared with the TO gang. Appearance: Brown, ruby red, small off white head. Aroma: Malt/caramel, sourish, damp/musty...not good. Flavour: Damp cardboard, malt, slight coffee, bitter finish. Not great but certainly not offensive.

(Bottle 33 cl) Clear, warm orangey brown with a creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt. Light body with a soft mouthfeel and a little low carbonation. Hard roasted malt accents and a basically absent bitterness. Pretty indifferent. 200908

Dark brown with reddish glimts and a medium beige head. Sweet aroma with butter, roasted malt and caramel notes. Flavour likewise a sweet butterish finish. Infected!

660ml bottle-pours a big foamy to creamy tan head and mahogany color. Aroma is dark malt-chocolate/molasses/peat, maybe some licorice, some earthy hops. Taste is dark malt-chocolate/molasses/peat, maybe some licorice, some earthy hops-with a fair amount of astringency which goes from initial thru aftertaste, medium body. The astringency reduces by the second pour then some dark fruitiness comes through. OK carbonation.

Bottled. Thanx(?) omhper. Dark copper/redish colour with mediumsized beige head. Aroma from licorice, caramel and tidbits. Rich chocolatey and big on Co2. Licoricy tidbits in the finish along with tad skunkiness. Light body here.
