Commercial Description:
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: Ale (top-fermentation) has many followers at the Brewpub Antares, in Mar del Plata. A flashy ruby colour, fruity taste and malt accent are typical of beers in this style. And this is as well – because in Scotland – the place where Scotch Ale was born – the climate is good for barley, but not so friendly for hops. Antares Scotch is a beer with a full body. The alcohol level of 6%abv is virtually unnoticeable. It is recommended that Scotch ales should be served at 10C. This is ideal for drinking alone, or with beef, pork or pizza.

2008-09-17. Dark amber body with a smallish beige head. (3+) Aroma of over cooked Wonder Bread toast from a diner or greasy spoon. Flavour is sweetish, quite mild though. Notes of the Wonder Bread character as in the aroma, light grainy bready notes in the finish. Average to thin palate is much too thin for the style. Not offensive but rather mild, unexciting. Bottle shared by HogTownHarry

my 660ml bottle shared with blankboy, GregClow, jerc and mabel, via trade with mgermani. Slightly hazy deep amber pour and an average lasting frothy creamy off-white head. Dry toasty caramel malt aroma, grainy and sadly a bit papery (I held this in the cellar quite a while). The taste is thin, a very sweet malt body that reminded me, not unpleasantly, of Crown Brand corn syrup, but the malt sweetness faded quickly, leaving a surprising residue of dry generic bitterness. Syrupy mouthfeel, naturally, only average-bodied though, a little oxidized bitterness in the aftertaste. Certainly sweet enough for the style, not much alcohol (didn’t seem like 6%) - kind of thin.

A bit hazy ruby color, small off-white head. Caramellty, grassy nose. Light, caramelly, butterscotchy and grassy flavor. It is kind of Scotch ale, but not really really enjoyable one.

Bottle at Paul’s Hoboken Gathering: Copper with a thin head. The aroma is odd with some tobacco and old dust. Thin body with a graininess, some mild hay and brown sugar. Somewhat vacant and boring.
