Commercial Description:
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: Ale (top-fermentation) has many followers at the Brewpub Antares, in Mar del Plata. A flashy ruby colour, fruity taste and malt accent are typical of beers in this style. And this is as well – because in Scotland – the place where Scotch Ale was born – the climate is good for barley, but not so friendly for hops. Antares Scotch is a beer with a full body. The alcohol level of 6%abv is virtually unnoticeable. It is recommended that Scotch ales should be served at 10C. This is ideal for drinking alone, or with beef, pork or pizza.

Poured a dark copper with a thin head, aroma of malt, vanilla and caramel. Flavour was thin and sweet, with a strange almost smokey aftertaste.

Pours a slightly hazy dark orange-amber with a lovely tight head and minimal lacing. I could smell the butterscotch aroma as soon as I started pouring. Tastes bitter at first, but warms up into a nice light butterscotch taste with only a touch of a slightly peaty hop note. Body is well carbonated and creamy. Very nice beer, very weak aftertaste but otherwise no complaints.

Thanks Fukito! A sweet beer with some bitternes. Pleasant fruity notes, a little dry. I’m not used to Scotch ales, but this one seems ok.

Hazy reddish-chestnut. No head. The aroma is toasty with chocolatey accents, earth, nuts. Full body at first, but gets a bit watery late. Watery-ish finish aside, it is mostly chewy. Sweetish flavour carries toasty, earthy malt notes and maybe some vague esters just for fun.

Hazelnut with minimal head. Aroma has some scotch and caramel with a light grassy note. Full flavoured, rich and semi-sweet caramel. Nicely done scotch ale.

VEry nice, it has a good Scotch aroma indeed, but also a great sweet flavour. The foam is good and not annoying.

Appearance: copper dark color with touches of ruby. Medium head, beige color and low persistence. Aroma: sweet fruitiness, touches of cherry and others wild red fruits. Malted, toffee and candy. Reminiscence of coffee and cherry liquor. Flavor: malted and candy. Sweet beginning and finish with medium presence of hop’s bitterness. Too presence of cherries and toast after taste. Palate: Medium body and silky texture. Low carbonation. Good Argentinean beer. (sorry for my english)
