Commercial Description:
Josh's translation of the Spanish description: Ale (top-fermentation) has many followers at the Brewpub Antares, in Mar del Plata. A flashy ruby colour, fruity taste and malt accent are typical of beers in this style. And this is as well – because in Scotland – the place where Scotch Ale was born – the climate is good for barley, but not so friendly for hops. Antares Scotch is a beer with a full body. The alcohol level of 6%abv is virtually unnoticeable. It is recommended that Scotch ales should be served at 10C. This is ideal for drinking alone, or with beef, pork or pizza.

Pours a nice foamy off-white head that soon settles down to bit on surface and around the sides of the glass. Pleasant aroma that’s in character. Color is brownish with a bit of tarnished brass. Satisfying scotch ale flavor, good body, slightest hint of hops, a bit of carbonation on the tongue. A slightly lingering finish. Brought this bottle back with me from La Plata, Argentina Brewpub Antares some months ago, and it has a bb date of April 06. 6% alc. I want another! Wish we could get it here. Cheers!

I try this ale years ago on tap and the bottled version, and I remember that it had a noticeable hop aroma (like all Antares beers) and perhaps a little too bitter to be a Scotch. But days ago I get a 660cc boltle in the supermarket and I was really impressed. No hop aroma. I finally found a great roasted malt aroma with some toffe notes. It pours with a good head that was in the glass all the way. Fantastic deep copper colour. The taste was surprisingly sweet as I expected from a Scotch Ale, with a noticeable hop bitterness only at finish. Rich roast malt an caramel flavors. Some alcoholic character. I enjoy it.

Bottle. Amber colour. A little burnt malty smell, hints of caramel too. Has a sweet malty taste. The aftertaste is also sweet and a bit heavy from the alcohol. Also a nice bitter aftertaste. A friend brought me this bottle from Argentina. It was a nice surprise.

Drank this beer in the Antares brewpub in Bariloche (Argentina). Had the sampler of the different beers on draught. Really enjoyable beer, one of the best I had in Argentina. Malt, caramel and hop. Definitely my favorite Antares beer, together with the Kolsch.

They recommend drinking this with beef? Hard to imagine that in Argentina! Enjoyed this one on tap in November 2002 at the John John Pub & Grill Restaurant in Buenos Aires. A light hoppy aroma. Dark amber color. Flavor is mostly sweet maltiness with a heavy bitter aftertaste. Slight sweet butteriness flavor. Medium carbonation. The bottled version is not comparable but alright.

Pours a slightly hazy dark orange-amber with a lovely tight head and minimal lacing. I could smell the butterscotch aroma as soon as I started pouring. Tastes bitter at first, but warms up into a nice light butterscotch taste with only a touch of a slightly peaty hop note. Body is well carbonated and creamy. Very nice beer, very weak aftertaste but otherwise no complaints.

Hazelnut with minimal head. Aroma has some scotch and caramel with a light grassy note. Full flavoured, rich and semi-sweet caramel. Nicely done scotch ale.

(660ml bottle) Obtained in a trade with mgermani. Large frothy white head with a deep ruby red body. Nose is very enjoyably scotch and malty. Slightly husky and woody but mainly a smooth enjoyable finish. This from someone not terribly fussed on the style.
