Bottle sampled on 8/26/06: Pours a still viscous copper bronze with nice legs. Sweet sticky caramel honey and complex oaky vanilla aroma. Body starts with a sweet sticky caramel vanilla honey flavor with a warming finish. Complex raisins, plums and brown sugar throughout. A very sweet dessert mead.

At the 2007 Big Beers, Belgians & Barleywines festival in Vail. Another fantastic mead. The black currant flavors were huge and outstanding. Orange gold in color, still with no head. Fearless aroma of the wooded fruit flowers. Super thick sugary sweetness is mellowed by the intense black currant flavor. Love it.

Bottle thanks to Dorwart. Clear orange/amber color with obviously no head. Sweet honey aroma(duh!), with notes of wildflowers, sherry and light wood. Flavor is very sweet, with a bright honey flavor that is accented by a nice floral undertone. I did not detect any black currant in the aroma, but there was a slight fruity taste in the finish. Somewhat port like in it’s aftertaste. I did not like this as much as the Poltorak, but it was still excellent and definitely the second best mead I have ever had.
