Courtesy of Crizay <!-- P --> Aroma is a big wallop of alcohol, cloying sweetness with sherry and honey notes. Body is a beautiful molten amber red with no head at all. Quite still. Fore features Sherry, strong red wine, toasted oat cakes, and the middle to finish reveals peanuts, smooth sweet honey, apple, brown sugar and some port, pear notes. HUGE flavor range that just gives hint of tons of flavors and that is a nice experience in any beverage. Body is quite syrupy, but I guess that is expected.

Bottled on 251004, red labeled bottle no wicker. Pours dark ruby red, no head. Aroma is of a bottle of whiskey. Taste is very sweet honey then the alcohol takes it over, even smelling it when I go to take a sip kills it for me. Just a straight flat honey liquor taste, sorry Poland and my heritage, I poured it out, and gave the rest of the bottle away.

This bottled mead came in a beautiful wicker corked bottle. I had been saving it for a special occasion when our good friend JSquire came over for a tasting. I thought it appropriate to dedicate this brew to him and enter it for my 2300th rating. Here’s to you Jeff! The mead poured a beautiful golden red orange brown colored transparent uncarbonated body. There were no bubbles and no carbonation. The aroma was simply amazing with wonderful vinous dark honey notes that were strangely tingly. An amazing fact about this nose was that we could not seem to get our noses out of our snifters during the sampling. The aroma is just magnificent and second only to the Jadwiga. The mouth feel was flat and thick with and oily feeling them BAM!!! the flavor hit in the aftertaste. The honey hits like a cannon. Very sweet honey aftertaste. The flavor was similar with complex notes of honey and honey like notes. Absolutely excellent. After a few sips the alcohol begins to come through and begins to burn slightly as it goes down. What a wonderful nectar from the Gods indeed!

Bottle. Transparent, uncarbonated and a bright orange hue with some gold peeking through. Honey, sweet and alcohol nose. Flavor was sweet, honey, some vanilla and some white wine. Tingly, dry, burning sensation mouthfeel. Medium body. Nicely done and worth trying if you have the opportunity to do so.

Out of a bottle with thedm and hotstuff. This is a still mead that pours a clear light amber color. This is a thick, syrupy liquid that heavily coats the inside of the snifter as I swirled it. There is noticable ABV in the nose with lots of honey and floral purfumes. Very nice sipping drink with lots of flavors that focus on the honey sweetness. Also oak, vanilla, flowers and sweet pit fruit. I didn’t notice specific black currant tastes, but there is a dark fruitiness to it.

Thanks Dave! Bottle labeled "11-02-2004". It pours to a glowing orange amber body with nice legs. Very luminescent. The aroma is very strong and covers up most of the alcohol. Honey and nice white wines. The flavor is sweet white wine, sweet honey from an unknown source, pears, dry cedar wood. The palate is very warming in the back of the throat and adds to the stomach. Nice mouthfeel but is a little sticky. Nicely viscous. Mmmmm. Very good. Share this with a bunch of friends! I liked this better than the Jadwiga... 8, 5, 8, 4, 17 = 4.2

Re-rate. Pours to an orange body with no head. Very nice legs. The aroma is extremely complex with floral, fruits, and sweet honey. Extreme complex sweetness. The flavor is sweet honey and complex floral components. Really sweet and nicely textured palate. Really damed good.

Clear amber body - really does look like amber. Big thick legs. There’s a strong alcohol presence in the aroma but it’s a very clean alcohol - enjoyable really. There’s a sweet apple as well. Big sweet flavor - apple, sugar (brown and powdered) and of course of alcohol (but again it’s clean). The flavor isn’t really complex but it’s also enjoyable. The alcohol acts is a positive influence on the mead vs. being a detractor. Not bad for $9 per 750mL!

Clear golden amber color, like apple juice. Noticable alcohol scent, not offensive to me. Very sweet flavor. Decent body. Overall, very interesting (keep in mind I’ve never tried a mead before.)
