Still bodied, a swirl of the glass reveals thick, viscous legging that lasts forever. The fantastic aroma is overflowing with big honey, floral in nature, with potent lavender and wildflower notes. Vanilla plays a big role, as do notes of golden raisin. Flavors are ultra-concentrated, rich honey sweetness obviously showing strongest, but floral and fruity notes following closely behind. Woody, vanilla-laden oak really sets this one off, imparting a brandy-like element. Full and slick in the mouth, it drinks dangerously smooth for such a potent mead. This is a top tier example of the style. Great stuff. Beershine (2710), Traipsing Around, Cambodia
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 15, 2009 Rich dark orange. Bright color with gorgeous legs. Cool aroma is vanilla, oak and honey. Viscous body. Super-nice sugary flavors. A very nice sipping mead that offers a cognac-like experience. Lots of fruit too. Figs, dates, raisins (golden ones especially) and rum cake. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 31, 2009 Beautiful bright golden. A little honey and a lot of oak in the nose. Lots of woody notes. Very rich, oaky, sweet. Balanced, refined. The most crazy legs I have ever seen on a mead. Rogueone (506), I F&ckin’ hate those guys from, Ohio, USA

Tastes sort of like the mead version of a butter rum Lifesaver; butterscotch, toffee, all cloaked in honey. So, so good. JaBier (1233), Capital City, Ohio, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Sampled at Sliffy’s. Pinkish amber color. Fruity aroma with plenty of alcohol and sweetness. Kinda smells like brandy. Flavor is out of this world. Buttery toffee or butterscotch character with the honey sweetness. Full-bodied and delicious. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA

Pours a really rich looking dark amber color, with nice legs and a smooth texture. Smells of rich honey, some caramel, and sweet citrus fruits. Really nice looking. The flavor is smooth and rich on the palate, really lovely honey, and sweet butterscotch characters. The 16% is masked wonderfully, only a little heat left on the tongue, with a great little bite at the end. Really fantastic mead. Flavorful, balanced, and quite enjoyable. Tobacco and leather elements in the aroma, but on the sweet side there’s also honey. Marjut claims canteloupe melons and apricot. I can see preserved apricots (which are quite spicy in the preparations I’m used to), but not the sweet fleshy fruitiness. Smooth sweet body, but not overly sticky. There’s even some woodiness to the aroma now, and maybe cigar-like. Taste pleasantly honey-ey, and has some of the savoury components from the aroma too. Sweet finish. Utterly delightful.
Rerate: +1 to taste - it’s heavenly. IlanMan (820), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA

Flavor was extraordinarily sweet but again, really smooth. Alcohol was well hidden but warming in the chest. I liked it a lot but it was a bit too sweet overall.
