DocLock (3958), Lower Pottsgrove, Pennsylvania, USA May 12, 2008 Bottle from State Line. Pours deep gold, going toward a dark straw to light coppery honey color, with minimal head that dissipates quickly and never really returns in any noticeable amount. The nose is luscious; honey mixed with raspberries and floral rosewater hints. The flavor is bold, brash, pure honey mixed with a touch of raspberry notes and mild floral notes. It does get a tiny bit hot, but that heat is integrated so well into the flavor that is never offensive. I paid $38 bucks for my bottle, and it was worth every penny. I dare anyone to drink this and not be tempted to utter, "Arrrrgh, ye limey bastard, I’m gonna keelhaul your ass and then I’ll draw and quarter ya and make ya walk the plank." Bravo.
Stefano (929), Esbjerg, Denmark Jul 3, 2008 Pours a thick golden color with no head. Low carbonation. Sweet complex dark honey, plum and alcohol aroma.
Lightly sweet, lightly bitter initial flavour. Moderately sweet, lightly bitter finish.
Little too sweet maybe but it would be nice as a dessert.
radiomgb (1701), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Jun 23, 2008 Rich copper/ruby in colour, no head, excellent alcohol legs. The aroma is extremely powerful, lots of plums, candied sugar, honey, flowers and alcohol, quite sweet as well. The flavour is very rich, sweet, very plummy, lots of alcohol, berries, maple and honey. Hot sweet mouthfeel, soft body, next to no carbonation. Finishes sweet, very warm, long.
This is just incredable, lots of alcohol but it never became a distraction because of how much else is going on here. Just stunning stuff.
750ml bottle obtained in a trade with TheCheeseMan, thanks Dan.

beerbill (1142), Laurel, New York, USA Jun 16, 2008 Bottle courtesy of a trade with dchmela. Pours a mostly clear clear rose tinted amber with no head. This is a still mead. Very strong aroma of honey with some floral notes. The flavor is simply excellent with sweet honey and just enough raspberry to be noticeable. This mead coats the palate with each mouthfull, but is not cloying or syrup-like. Mild alcohol burn towards the finish does not interfere with the enjoyment of this gem. Superb. JK (2341), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA Jun 15, 2008 Thanks to Guerde for sharing this rare mead. Amber in color and still. Aroma has honey and some alcohol. Incredible, intense flavor with sweet honey, prune juice, figs, sugar, and just a little alcohol, which is also present in the palate. It reminds me of an ice wine. tlind2 (143), Helsinki, Finland Jun 12, 2008 Small sampler @ Kallion Poirotti, Helsinki. Deep amber color, no carbonation. Explosive aroma with plenty of alcohol mixed in with honey. Smooth, warming taste dominated by honey, sweet lingering finish. A very interesting mead that would make a great Christmas gift or after dinner treat.
