thedm (3406), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA May 20, 2004 OK, I had been holding on to this bottle for quite sometime. I knew it was going to be a treat so I wanted to to wait for a time that I could share it with my fellow RateBeer friends. After the Fort Wayne Ale Fest 2004, BigBadBear, Flemdawg, JSquire, Hotstuff, and Silphium came over to my place for a tasting. This was our first brew. And oh what a brew it was! I carefully cut the string that went through the label so as to not damage it. I uncapped it and poured it into snifters for each person. Wow! What an aroma! It was the most complex aroma I have yet to rate. The bottle poured no head whatsoever in my snifter (unless you count the one clear colored bubble I saw!). The body was transparent and dark ruby red brown in color. The aroma was simply marvelous with vinous potent plum port like notes that simply have to be smelled to appreciate. The mouth feel was thick and chewy with a strong dark honey flavor that was smooth and thick and heavy. Wow! What a mead! Like no other mead I have yet to have the pleasure of tasting. Very very good and very very different. Did I say Wow yet? Wow!
mjs (524), Helsinki, Finland Aug 29, 2008 (Bottle) Cognac colour. Sweet cream cherry and honey aromas. Very sugary palate. Cherry like flavour with honey. Very very sweet. sayravai (3048), Helsinki, Finland Aug 27, 2008 (Bottled) Deep cognac color with no head. Dried-fruity, sweet and intense, almost malty aroma with oaky woodiness. Intensely sugary and honeyish flavor with some smooth alcohol and raspberries. Extremely thick and sugary-syrupy palate with no carbonation. Very pleasant aroma and flavor, but the sugar wall is too thick to allow sampling more than 4-6cl at once. tertons (100), East Providence, Rhode Island, USA Aug 25, 2008 Overtly sweet, thick, and alcohol. My first mead rating, so this will have to be revisited down the road. douglas88 (743), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 10, 2008 Bottle shared by footbalm. Pours a light copper color with no head. Interestingly, this beer leaves a silky honey coating on the glass that slowly slides down, like syrup. The aroma is very boozy; some sourness and spices, like apple cider. The taste was very sweet; a sweet honey explosion, honey glazed raspberries, smooth, very dangerous stuff. A sticky mouthfeel, lip-smacking stuff for sure. Very nice. Enjoyable and interesting. Thanks Eric. BMan1113VR (796), Los Angeles (and Dallas, TX), California, USA Aug 8, 2008 750 Bottle thanks to pepsican. Amazing stuff. Thick pour that is an amber-rose color. Huge, perfectly formed alcohol legs. Aroma is honey, raspberries and alcohol. Taste is huge, syrupy honey, with amazingly fresh raspberry taste. Absolutely out standing. Mouthfeel is completely coating, like drinking honey. Truely the nectar of the gods!
