Very smooth start and finish with just the right amount of honey/oak and maple finishes, better aged although extremely sweet, a perfect desert drink. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 20, 2005 My 2nd f’ing rating because something froze.. Aroma is identical to the Kaztelanski. Sweet, musty, tofee-ish. COlor is copper and transparent with no head like the previous mead. Cough cough cough...holy asthma inflicting...Sweet to start with lot of fruitiness and a slightly burning alcoholic sensation. Tasty and meant for small small amounts. Better than the previous mead. Thanks for Beeradvocating me! ChazyRPh (571), Chazy, New York, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 20, 2005 clear copper pour. Butterscotch, maple syrup and honey are the dominant aromas. Quite complex aroma. Smooth, vineous, alcoholic start, some earthiness, mellowing to ultra sweetness from honey, maple syrup. Finish is so sweet, this would make a great dessert drink. | 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 15, 2005 Deep crimson brown with no movement or activity. Fiery, honey and maple oak vat sweetness pervades the nose with elements of lavender, saffron, caramel and pine combs gliding along. Sweet honey suckle rose flavor, along with nectar taken straight from the source. So smooth, fresh and delectable. Wondrous balance and finish. Thanks for your generosity, JPDIPSO! 1FastSTi (2580), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 15, 2005 Thanks to John for sharing a sample. The aroma is very hot. I get some fingernail polish. Thank god the flavor makes up for the strong aroma. It pours to a dark bronze body with no head. It sticks to the glass (legs). The flavor is sweet honey. Very nice. The palate is smooth. If it weren’t for this smelling like raunchy fingernail polish, this would definitely rate higher... MIBRomeo (1965), Wisconsin, USA

Smells like a port wine very sweet and syruppy a thick dark fruit smell. Palate is thick and creamy. Very sweet malt alcohol flavor like a port mixed w/ a fine scotch. Good stuff. | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Aug 14, 2005 Deep gold color, like, well, honey. Thick. I was surprised at how thick this was. Taste was strongly vanilla and overwhelmingly honey. A bit of fruit comes through. The alcohol is noticeable, but not 16% noticeable. Big Big Big. Walt (2289), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Aug 14, 2005 Bottle date 2004: Pour is light golden amber...smell is strong with sweet alcohol, vanilla, flowers, weeds, oxidation?, not super pleasant......taste is mainly just sweet...sweet like honey water...mild alcohol flavor in the finish...very thick and syrupy...Kurpiowski is way better, but this is great too...
