I’m happy I was finally able to sample it at the Philly Gathering. Honey aroma, butterscotch and nutty flavor. Sample had a warming effect on me. Interesting packaging, perfect libation for a social setting. Probiere (992), Iowa, USA

| 4.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 19/20 | Feb 25, 2005 Brown amber and very thick, leaving oily, long legs on the glass. Very strong aroma: alcohol, brown sugar and clover honey. Very floral, bringing forth false memories of springtime strolls through wet, blooming meadows. Such a sweet, soft flavor, not abrasive or overly alcoholic like so many other meads, with notes of pear, Gala apples, maple syrup, and a touch of alcohol. The aroma would have you believe that this is going to be a burningly hot alcoholic drink, but the flavor is so delicate that you feel the need to savor every sip. Fabulous, and worth every tenth of a penny. iwantalambic (1389), St. Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Feb 22, 2005 4 oz. sample - Hop Leaf, Chicago: still, clear dark, golden with ruby hints. Strong, butterscotch aroma heavily laced with ripe apples, pears, sticky honey and an interesting earthy component. Maple syrup text on the tongue, with a feel of whiskey through the finish. Sugary flavours are most evident along side of the crazy stickiness which coats the lips and sooths the stomach. The alcohol is evident only in the feeling you get after a few sips, not the flavour, which is full of sweet honey, tea, hints of anise, and just a quick touch of soy when you aren’t paying attention. An amazingly complex treat. YourDarkLord (1800), Urbana, Illinois, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 22, 2005 Hot damn!! Wanted to save this for my 1000th rating but couldn’t hold off. This was worth the cost and worth the wait. Had to wait to share this with Gasspasser and Alcoholist since we sampled the Kurpiowski together. Awesome. Clear deep copper amber body. No head at all. The aroma was sweet honey that developed notes of cognac, sherry, perhaps some maple. The body was thick and nectary, smooth and silky in texture. The flavor was ambrosia, sweet, honey, delicious. I’d buy this again and again. Shared with my best beer buddies, many of whom are not fond of meads, but it went over big time. Excellent. SubstanceT (1090), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Feb 21, 2005 WOW this is a mead. Edward (brooklynboy) has been sitting on this one for quite some time to share and I really appreciate it. Cant really describe what is in this thing, but there is this honey and flowers all throughout the nose and taste. Syrupy without being thick. Thin without being watery. Warm with out being warm really. Words just cant do it for me. Definately check this thing out if you can, you wont be sorry. heemer77 (4311), Savannah, Missouri, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 21, 2005 This pours a thick and viscous amber. The aromas are flowers, herbs and menthol. Also a strong butterscotch note from the honey. The taste is very rich with sherry and some woody notes. The main character is the raspberries with some canned peaches. A warming drink, but the alcohol is well hidden. A very well done mead.
