Jun 23, 2007 Updated: Aug 17, 2007Apis has trumped themselves, producing an even better mead than the legendary Apis Jadwiga Poltorak. Honey notes (duh) - actually, more than notes - the flavor is thick, treacly, like a rich mead bursting with complexity - flavors of raisins, cognac and sweet sherry. Absolutely stunning. Comes in the same basket-covered bottle that Jadwiga comes in, but the Lubelski costa about US $5 more. IMHO, this is Johnny Walker Blue label to Jadwiga’s Johnny Walker Gold label.
Specifically, the Lubelski has less alcohol on the nose and palate when rated side by side with the Jadwiga. Otherwise, their fruit flavorings are essentiallly identical (to me, at least).

Dec 22, 2007 Amber color, slightly hazy, still. Nice aroma, lively, mature, with an undistinguishable mix of honey and raisins. Good body, extremely sweet and syrupy, wrapping, with light honey hint, light fruitness (like apricots), and the necessary acidity (like some great sweet white wines: Sauternes, Ramandolo and the like), perfect balance; finishes with a hint of almonds. Excellent!

Dec 3, 2007 RB#2300. Bottle, thanks to fiulijn. Pours golden orange and thick. Has a sweet aroma of honey and almost candy like. Flavour is extreme sweet and leads into a slight woody flavour with a mild darker dried fruit flavour. Finish is very sweet and slight warming. Lovely.

Dec 1, 2007 Small bottle. #1900 [Courtesy of fiulijn, Alex thanks buddy] No head. Thick oily like lacework. Golden color. Heavy aroma of honey, medicine, raisins, light fruity notes, alcohol, spice and prunes. Full bodied with a flat carbonation and a thick and alcoholic texture. Heavy sweet flavor. Raisin and warming alcoholic burning finish that lingers. Excellent.

Nov 18, 2007 Bottled. An amber mead ofcourse with no head. The aroma is sweet with strong notes of honey combined with notes of rosehips. The flavor is sweet with strong honey notes, but also with notes of rosehips, and some spices - from a lovely honey. The body is thick and the alcohol burns slightly in the throat.
