Commercial Description:
Abbey Roade is brewed in the tradition of the famous Belgian Abbey-style ales. This wonderful brew is soft and sweet up front. The complex and spicy middle palate is in most part due to the generous addition of dark Belgian candy sugar. This semi-dry ale has notes of ripe plum and pear with a peppery finish.

On tap @ ABC Harrisburg. Hazy brown/amber with a light tan head. Peppery yeasty aroma with a sweet sugar scent. Overly sweet flavor with a bit of sour yeast. Medium body, average carbonation and a syrupy mouth feel. This was way to sweet for me and very unbalanced, I almost couldn’t finish it.

Very interesting flavors in this beer, a combination of orange citrus, hopiness and yeast character make this beer very interesting. Caught a very slight hint of earthiness or grassiness and that is the only real flaw in this beer.

on tap in gettysburg... hazy copperish amber color with a small white head and moderate spotty lacing. the aroma is really bready and somewhat savory with yeast...flowers, orange and piney hops are added to the mix. the pine is weird but it works. the palate is a bit rich and sweet but mild bitterness and a dry finish help it out. flavors of raisins, orange, yeast, candi, non resinous pine, flowers, grass and a spice filled finish. medium bodied. again, bitterness and dryness keep it drinkable. 6/3/7/3/14/3.3

Tap at CAH. Pours a hazy golden with muddy orange notes and a medim bubbly off white head. Aroma of flowers, candi sugar, light Belgian esters. Flavor of the same with some earthy notes in flavor that I didn’t get in aroma.

Pours a hazy brown with a tiny white head. Good lacing, however. Very sweet aroma, a little fruity. Biting carbonation reveals a bittersweet body, lots of candi sugar, yeast, dried dark fruit. Oh, its good, as dubbels are a favorite... It has the parts that make up a good dubbel, just not put together correctly. Still, worth finding.

Draft at Harrisburg. Pours a hazy amber with an off white head. Aroma of sweet dark fruits and banana bread. The texture is a little thin in the middle for a dubbel, but this is very easy to drink. Flavors of dark wheat malts, raisen, banana, candi sugar, and caramel apples blend nicely. Finish is slightly yeasty. I did find some of the phenols distracting on the finish, but otherwise this is a decent beer. I think this brewer does a respectable job so far when it comes to Belgian beers.

Very hazy dark amber with a small off-white head. The nose is pear, apple, banana and herbs. The flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter with banana, peach, pear, apple, cotton candy and pepper. Medium/full body is round with moderate carbonation.

Hazy dark honey amber color. Sweet red apple and creamed bananas in the nose, along with honey and pear yeast esters – I would say they nailed the fruit and bread scents with the yeast, and thankfully this is unfiltered. Smooth texture, turning lightly dry on the palate, it finished smooth and creamy with apples, pears and sweet bread flavors. A good Belgian-style dubbel.
