Commercial Description:
Abbey Roade is brewed in the tradition of the famous Belgian Abbey-style ales. This wonderful brew is soft and sweet up front. The complex and spicy middle palate is in most part due to the generous addition of dark Belgian candy sugar. This semi-dry ale has notes of ripe plum and pear with a peppery finish.

on tap at boxers in Huntingdon, PA: poured a redish brown with a decent amount of head. aroma was lovely funky and spicy as a belgian ale should be, but it was definitely missing the big malty aroma. Flavor was dry and spicy but was missing the matly frutiy flavors. They yeast flavors were there, but they mixed in with what might have been too much hoping and created a harsh finish that should not be part of any dubbel. palate was rather thin, but medium. nothing to write home about

This was decent - nothing spectacular, but no particular complaints for a Dubbel. This had a nice strong aroma that was both sweet and spicy. The flavor was very sweet, with some additional spices coming through.

Purchased from the Gettysburg location. Poured from a growler a dark orange with an off-white head. Aroma was a sweet malt with a spiciness. Flavor was sweet caramel with some malt and spicy finish.

Thanks to OldRaspy for bringing this growler back! Pours a deep red/brown with frothy tan head. Nose is very sweet with some gapes/vinous hints. Flavor follows the nose with a small bitter in the finish. Too sweet overall, should have had this one for dessert.

From OldRaspy’s growler, which was filled at the Gettysburg location. Poured dark gold with an off white head. Nose is malty, but rather spicy in a clove and peppery way. Flavor was lightly fruity, with the spices coming to the fore. Pretty interesting, almost more like a grand cru than a dubbel. Slightly better than average.

Lancaster Brew Fest. This was one of the better beers at this particular fest. I’m far from an Appalacian fan but from what I can recall, this one was decent. Not much to write about though.

Sweet and tart with some bitter hops in there. Somewhat spicy but otherwise not much in the way of Belgian character. OK.

A decent Dubbel. Strong sweet aroma. Taste was sweet and somewhat spicey. Finish sweet with carmal and molasses.
