Commercial Description:
This amber ale is dosed with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, and fresh orange zest. It is well balanced with low hop flavor and nice hint of the spices in the finish. This spiced ale is not overbearing; rather it is smooth and very drinkable.

On tap @ Camp Hill. Pours a reddish amber color with a small tan head. Spicy aroma, lots of nutmeg, cinnamon. Malty body, cinnamon on the finish; dry. Not bad.

ONe of the more palatable seasonal/spice brews. Pours a nice red copper brown. Spice doesn’t bite your tongue, though it’s still there. CLoves, allspice, cinnamon, nutmeg, it’s all there but a better mixture than most.

Bottle. Pours a translucent brownish amber with golden notes and a smaller creamy off white head that left some lacing. Aroma of strong ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon. Getting a touch of the orange and some caramel and nuts. I actually enjoyed the aroma on this one. While the spices were upfront I think it was appropriate for what they are going for. In the flavor the spices were a little more subdued with more of a toasted malt/nuts up front. Would have liked a little more body.

On tap at Gettysburg. Aroma was very spiced with cinnamon being dominant. Taste was also spiced with a good amount of malt sweetness. Not much in the way of bitterness here. Mouthfeel was a little watery.

Had this on draft at the brewpub in Camp Springs. Very nice. The commercial description is accurate. BTW the food was good at the pub and the service was stellar. Recommended.

Draft pint at Appalachian in Harrisburg. Between this and the weizen bock I don’t think I drank 16 ounces total from my two pints. Serves me right for trying something new from the ABC. This one is a filtered reddish brown color with soda pop bubbles sitting on top in a small film. It’s consumed in overdone, highly amplified potpourri spices, just absolutely consumed in them, with, unfortunately, bad notes of cardamom, pumpkin (heavy), nutmeg (faint) and soapy dark fruit. Loose on the palate like every other Appalachain beer, with a heavy mass of mixed, uncoordinated spices that just wreck the entire experience. It finishesdry and pasty, and by the time I’d given up half way through, I thought that a straw might make this thing bearable to drink.

Aroma: was spices, with something that reminds me of smoke and some ginger. poured a dark amber almost heading to brown with a moderate head. Flavor was not good to me. weird combinaition of flavors that are kind of bandaid like to me, with some ginger, and somethign that I would describe as smokey. Reminded me a little of Stone Veritcal Epic 07.07.07. pretty light feeling in the mouth. I wouldn’t drink another one.
