Poured with a soda-pop kind of head, foaming up and then right down. No lace. Caramely sweet nose. Brightly sweet malty, caramely, toffee flavor. Perhaps a tad overcarbonated. On the humdrum side. I was not impressed with this pne the first time around - then I figured out that it was too cold. I let the second bottle warm up a bit - and that made all the difference. Lots of sweet malt. with a tad of smokiness. I’d like to try this on tap. eaglefan538 (2369), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Nothing very special here, actually a tad disappointing, although my expectations weren’t high in the first place. Poured an orangey-brown color with a nice initial head, weak retention and lacing. The aroma was roasty caramel. The flavor was nuts, bread, caramel, roasted grass (not peat, not smoke), sweet dark malts, thick sweetness, and some spicing. Lots going on, but all malts and too sweet. Quaffable? Is that what the description says? Not really. goldtwins (4081), Nesconset, New York, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 5, 2007 Poured a slightly hazed brown amber color with a thin off-white head. Malty but not very sweet. Earthy notes. Malty flavor with some caramel. Again semi-sweet. Some peaty notes. TheEpeeist (1461), Swarthmore, Pennsylvania, USA

Concord grape, brown sugar and a touch of peat. Taste much the same. Grape soda gets tart, sour. Mulberry drying. Light carb, a little thin. Ungstrup (15259), Frederiksberg, Denmark

| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 25, 2006 Draft. Borwn burgundy color. Looks deceptively like a rootbeer without the carbonation. molasses, coffee, toffee hints in taste but far too thin body for my expectation of a Scottish ale. Not the worst and has some strength in flavoring but needs to shore up the rest of the presentation. cjw163 (108), hummelstown, Pennsylvania, USA
