bottle. intense ruby red hue. caramel malts dominate the aroma, still musty and tight though. flavor is fairly one dimensional, but it’s a good flavor. hops are noticed as is the carbonation. slight mineral and honey notes on the finish. it’s an easy drinker. not bad, just unimpressive.

Bottle: Reddish brown, average head, no signs of visible life. Not much of an aroma, but this delivers a nice flavor package -- caramel and nut, maybe a hint of coffee and smoke. Doesn’t deliver much in the way of body, so despite a decent flave, this falls a tad short. (#3017, 7/12/2007)

Bottle sampled. Pours copper with a red hue and a small beige head. Aroma of caramel malts, dark fruit, and sweetness. the flavor is caramel, fruit, sweet, and slight traces of hops in the finish.

Bottle from ABC in Harrisburg. A pleasant malty flavor is here but the finish is a bit watery for the style and the maltiness is not very pronounced. I understand the importance of making a balanced beer which people like but this one is too blase other than some tangyness.

[307-20070509] 12floz (c/o tupalev, w/ him, blankboy, jerc). Burnt caramel and sweet malt aroma. Clear, burnt amber brown body with a bubbly off-white head. Caramel malt toast flavour with a slightly sour fruit aftertaste. Medium-full body. Interestingly put together.

Bottle. Pours a deep amber body with thin head. Malty profile, peaty. Flavor is decent with a sweet malty taste, light hops. A weak mouthfeel for the style, this one is too light and it hurts it enough that it falls short of being a good beer. Very drinkable.

Bottle shared with tupalev, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a clear amber with a small diminishing off-white head. Aroma of caramel malt and brown sugar. Somewhat watery flavour of caramel malt, brown sugar and a hint of smoke. Average bodied. Pretty decent beer, especially for Appalachian, but not great.
