My cousin ggaughan shared this with me from a growler he picked up at the brewpub over Memorial Day weekend. Pours reddish brown, with a thin off- white head. Interesting aroma; chocolate covered cherries, with some tartness. Nice sour cherry flavor, with vinous quality. There’s a little bitterness in the background, along with some pepper. Long, tart finish. Interesting and refreshing; definitely the best beer I’ve sampled from Appalachian. Thanks for the sample, Greg.

On tap at the Harrisburg location. Pours a muddled pinkish red with some violte highlights and a fluffy white soapy head. Aroma is slight tart cherries, cherry puree, slightly sour, lemony and chlorine-like cleanser character. Light flavor- some tartness, lightly sour, fresh cherry, light faded wheat malt, and a light tart finish. This was just an ok sour fruit beer, but it is no where near a real Kriek.

This beer is probably the tartest beer I’ve ever had. Good cherry/fruit flavor if you can get past how tart and dry it makes your mouth. finishing a pint of this is a challenge.

Draught pint at The Drafting Room, Spring House. Clear, muted cherry red body with a frothy white head. Aroma of tart cherry with raspberry tones and notes of sweaty fruit skins. Moderately sour flavor with leathery wild microbial signatures, some sticky residual sweetness (although not cloying), and some woody, numbing, fruit peel bitterness. Oddly bitter and somewhat tannic. Fair and drinkable, but nothing special.
