Commercial Description:
This full-bodied dry cousin of the stout has a slight roast flavor and is dark brown in color with a red hue. This is London’s classic beer style named for the baggage carriers that appreciated it so much. Governor Pennypacker was one of Pennsylvania’s more notable politicians. He oversaw the construction and held the lavish ceremonies designating the opening of the Commonwealth’s beautiful Capitol Building.

Draft. Brown/black color. Thin, non-lacy head. Lightly malty, but also surprisingly thin like the other ABC beer I sampled (Scottish Ale). Quick finish. No thanks.

KSBF 2006. Pours a dark brown with a large foamy light tan head that was creamy and laced. Aroma of cocoa and light coffee. Flavor of the same with some roast.

This brewery seems to make beers according to style, restrained and easy to drink yet with some subtlety. This porter has subdued roasted malt notes throughout. Smooth, creamy, finishing fairly dry with a hint of smoke.
