Commercial Description:
This full-bodied dry cousin of the stout has a slight roast flavor and is dark brown in color with a red hue. This is London’s classic beer style named for the baggage carriers that appreciated it so much. Governor Pennypacker was one of Pennsylvania’s more notable politicians. He oversaw the construction and held the lavish ceremonies designating the opening of the Commonwealth’s beautiful Capitol Building.

On tap at the Lehigh Valley Brew Fest ’04. Poured a dark reddish, brown color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas and tastes of chocolate and roasted malts. Smooth body. Very light bitterness.

On tap at ABC. THis was very smoooth and enjoyable at the brewery, however, when I had it at another bar on tap it was somewhat different and had a metallic taste and wasnt nearly as smooth.(maybe bad tap lines) Overall it had a slight roasty aroma and flavor, but the caramel malts came through a little more. Although this beer is well attenuated and has a dry finish, it somehow retains a very nice body and mouthfeel. Very well done.

A little chocolate on the nose, but rather thin porter without much character. Not impressed.

(Draught) Foamy, beige head with an opaque body. Hardly any nose? Coffee malt. Boring...

Dark color. Black olive notes in flavor and aroma. I like black olives, so i thought this was ok, but could be better.

Pretty average porter, black in color with a nice tanish head, some roasted flavors, very little by way of aroma, balance was decent, body was medium

A mild, English-style porter that has little in the way of aroma or roastiness. While I miss the aroma, there are times when I enjoy a mild porter with some malt and little bitterness. Pleasant.

Looks very promising with a thick dark body and a full rich white head. Not much in the way of aroma. The taste is roasted almonds w/ a bite. This beer promises a lot but just never delivers.
