Commercial Description:
Our light copper pale ale has a delicate malt attribute balanced by an aggressive hop flavor and aroma. Many American micros have developed their own version of this classic English style beer. Our brewers anticipate that you will enjoy their variation.

120z bottle yields a rich amber hue with plenty of head. aromas are that of a typical pale. hops, must, earth mainly; slight honey underneath. the taste is also typical, but i got a taste of cardboard ever-so-slightly, the purist contains a tinge of sweetness towards the finish on the mid-front palate. mouthfeel is lively, and drinkability is average. it’s not spectacular, but gives way for others to shine. it beats a few, but trails many.

Bottle: Poured a true amber color, moderatley active, culminating in a thin veil of foam. The aroma is vague, woodsy and harvest-toned. The flavor is more pronounced -- definitely woodsy, carameled, bit of candied apple, nice little hoppy-grassy bite in the finish. Think this is better than the ratings. (#3015, 7/11/2007)

[306-20070509] 12floz (c/o tupalev, w/ him, blankboy, jerc). Citrus rind hoppy aroma. Clear, red orange body with small central bubbles and a foamy white head. Bitter hops flavour has some grassy citrus. Medium body. Quite different from its brothers, not bad.

This one is much better on tap than bottled. The bitterness is here but I had to fish for it on the back of my tongue. It seems very well balanced but a bit on the watery side. There is some straw and grain that is noticeable in the aftertaste.

Bottle. Copper, small white head. Muted aroma of hops, orange citrus and mild muted resin. Flavour has a shell of hop flavours with light orange citrus and resin but fails to deliver the core of it. Touch astringent at times. Average palate. Shows promise but needs amplification.

Bottle shared with tupalev, jerc & mabel -- courtesy of tupalev. Pours a clear orange-copper with a small diminishing white head. Aroma: Yes, some hops! After the last Appalachian beers we had this is a nice surprise. Flavour’s a little watery with some mild hops and caramel malt. Average bodied. Decent, way better then the last two Appalachians we had.

Bottle, 12 pack mix pack. I had this 3 times over the past month - when fresher, it had a really nice light hop taste to go with a mild malt backbone and was very refreshing. Last night, it was still ok, and miles ahead of the wheat and lager, but it had started to develop that taste that light pale ale’s tend to get when they are not at their best. Just a little stale / tea like. Anyway, this one featured that light grainy hop aroma over a light copper body. I wouldn’t mind this fresh on a regular basis, but I am getting a little tired on English style pales. Ok.

Appearance was a darker shade of pale with a small, off-white head and modest lacing. Aroma was initially malty, but floral hops soon dominated. Moderately sweet, toffeeish taste balanced by subtle, light citrus hops. Medium bodied, decently carbonated mouthfeel with a dry, mildly bitter finish. Maybe more of an English style pale than an American. A good session beer.
