Bottle (750ml) shared at ’Biegaman’s Second Annual Saison Tasting’ -- courtesy of HogTownHarry. 2000 vintage. Very pale yellow-gold colour, looking a bit dish-watery - that’s not very promising. But then I check the aroma - big, warm honeycomb with a slight oakiness - oh yeah, that’s nice! Medium bodied, quite smooth. As Harry notes below, it tastes like honey with a nice floral character, with a hint of the oak from the aroma coming through in the flavour as well. Seems really one-dimensional when I write it down, but it was actually quite vibrant and mouth-warming.

2005-05-24. Lightly hazy pastel yellow body. Sweet honey aroma gives way to moderate alcohol presence. (7+) Sweet honey in the flavour is simple but rather pleasant, alcohol warms the throat quite heavily but is not particularly noticeable in the flavour. (7+) Smooth medium bodied palate. Bottle, thanks for picking it up for me Jerc and mabel! Nice medium yellow, no head. Pure honey aroma. Taste - good. Pure honey, most natural tasting honey mead I have ever had. Almost earthy, especially in finish. Stunning taste = very drinkable, not too hot. Wonderful soft tingly mouthfeel. A perfect after dinner sipper is small doses.

TheCheeseman strikes again! 2000. bottle. Pours a clear light pale gold color. Smells of rich apple orchards and honey blended together. Great aroma. Theflavor was really sweet as expected, alot of honey sugar and apple citrus mixed. Tasted pretty much like it smelled. The amazing thing about this mead is the alcohol is masked so brilliantly, I would never have guessed it was 20% at all. Pretty damn good mead.

Honey Apple Wood aroma. Pale yellow with no head. Very sweet honey with a nice apple taste. You’re aware of the alchohol but the sweetness keeps it from being overpowering.

2000 vintage 750ml bottle shared with Matt7215, RyanMac13. Thanks Matt! Wow, what a drinking experience! To be honest, it’s hard to consume much of. Very powerful, especially at the END of a tasting. But the honey is just great. Although I do get a sense that a whole colony of bee’s somewhere is just dying laughing at me. But still a pretty impressive drink. I wish I could have access to a lot more meads! It just loses some points for the harsh alcohol bite and burn that is unavoidable. Still great stuff though.

750ml bottle @Vero Beach Throwdown-pours no head and hazy straw color. Aroma is fermented apples, alcohol. Taste is apple, honey, sugar. Slightly slick mouth feel. Alcohol well hidden, warms going down. Thanks to Thecheeseman for sharing.

[1387-20080524] Bottle. Apple wood aroma has a sweet sticky honey note and has a strange lingering sweaty boy waft at the end. Hazy, light yellow white body with no head. Heavy apple and wood booze flavour with a bit of butter, mostly honey notes. Medium-full body. Interesting hazy colour, super boozy.
