Commercial Description:
The newest addition to our beer line-up is a dark, malty German lager. This recipe is a scaled-up version of one of Matt's original home-brew recipes. Dunkel is a traditional dark German beer combining the clean crispness of a lager with a smooth, roasty palate for a deliciously drinkable beer.

tap at brewpub - Pours dark brown with some lacing and a toasted malt aroma. It has a sweet toasted malt flavor with mild hops. This medium bodied brew is straightforward and a fairly good quaff.

Light roasty nose, almost a smoked malt nose. Kind of biting roast, smoky and bitter flavors atop a somewhat watery beer. Head almost dies completely. Avoids sweetness. Very drinkable, warms up very nicely, especially in the aroma but holds together very well. Well made, if a bit un-sweet (which is fine by me!).

quite dark with very little head and lacing. fairly light body, smooth and flavorful. seemed similar to a sweet stout or something but the palate was obviously a lager and drinkable and the roasted malts were nice.
