Aroma is moderately sweet, pine, cherry/plum, some cookie dough. Taste is moderately sweet, pine, cherry/raisin, caramel. Medium-full body, some effervescence. Much hoppier than, and much preferred to, the other version. Cletus (5060), Connecticut, USA

Pours brwon with a more pronounced off white head than the other version. Smells of earh, some fruit, tea, touches of spice. Tastes of spice, sweet malt, some dark fruit. Mouthfeel is more robust on this one. Finish is of spice and some alcohol. ¾ (5009), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Aug 31, 2007 So this is the version brewed by the Dark Horse guy but at the Arbor/Corner facility. Opaque but lighter in color than the Dark Horse version, with a deep rusty red hued brown body and a properly thick tan head with good lacing globs. Grassy, hoppy nose of grains (dog food?), sweet, sugary oats and cookie dough (I was thinking Cracklin’ Oat Bran), and then when a little warmer there’s more of a fruity, resiny grassy cherry skin and berry flavored hop quality. Quick hoppy, and still coarse like the Dark Horse version, but there’s a lot more yeast character in this one, and I prefer it easily over the Dark Horse version (the version brewed by the Arbor/Corner brewer). | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 13, 2008 Bottle Fall 2007. Poured a clear brown color with an average frothy off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate toasted sweet malt and hoppy aroma. Medium body. Solid balanced toasted flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of moderate duration. Good complex brew. Ughsmash (4095), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Nov 16, 2007 Bottle thanks to Schroppfy! Poured clear reddish-orange with an explosive (90% of the glass) cap of beige head. The aroma picked up sweet dusty and soapy notes with chocolate and sweeter caramel beneath.. hard to pull out what was supposed to be going on here. The flavor was a touch better.. quite a lot of brighter pine and floral bitterness over caramel, chocolate, and leafy notes at the base.. OK balance with a bitter finish. About medium-bodied on the palate with decent balance.. nice chocolate and pine kick at the finish. HogTownHarry (4026), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 4, 2009 Bottle (12oz). Red Cap. Tried to gush on opening, but I tamed it - brilliantly refractive deep copper pour with a huge fluffy off-white head (floaties galore). Interesting, balanced aroma (brown ale? no way!) - dry resin hops and mild toasty malt, bit of cocoa and tart generic fruit in the background. Taste is very grainy and dry, lemony, bready and a tad alcoholic - holy crap that’s carbonated, not much bitterness in the finish, it actually sort of tastes like a slightly tart brown ale. Weird, but I liked it a bit, although it’s a bit off-puttingly sour - somewhat infrected? jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 26, 2009 2009-04-26. Red Cap. Hazy dark brown with a massive beige head. Aroma of tangy malt, dusty toasty notes. Mild yeasty undertones. Flavour tastes suspiciously like one of my homebrews, with a tangy note to the malt. Pleasant mild hops over sweet caramel malt. Alcohol is quite restrained, only showing a bit of itself. Average plus palate is over carbonated. Okay. Bottle from Swoopjones’ Toronto Maple Leafs Store blankboy (3260), Toronto, Ontario, Canada
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 1, 2008 Bottle courtesy of swoopjones. Pours reddish-brown with a massive lasting foamy beige head. Aroma of toasted malt, some chocolate and very light earthy hops. Flavour’s malty (roasty caramel) along with fruit, spices, alcohol and earthy hops, slightly metallic or tangy or something. Average bitter finish. Overly carbonated. Medium bodied. Just O.K., seems slightly infected.
