| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 7/20 | Oct 25, 2004 On draft at brewery: Not as good as I was expecting. Very sweet, cloyingly so. The rye wasn’t very apparent. The mouthfeel was muddled, nothing was obvious. This isn’t one I’ll be ordering next time I stop by. thedm (3836), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 20, 2004 This draft brew from the brewery poured a practically no head of finely sized quickly disappearing white colored bubbles that left behind an unnoted lacing. The body contained no carbonation, was transparent and light brown in color. Its aroma contained notes of mild red malts. Its mouth feel is initially tingly and smoothly vinous with a hop bite and a smooth malty aftertaste. Its flavor contained red malty notes. An OK beer but nothing spectacular here. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 14, 2004 Updated: Oct 15, 2004Absurdly sweet and heavy with huge crystal malt - more crystal malty and fruity than any beer in recent memory. This is thick! Nice aroma, slightly smoky (or was that the anticipation of the smoked lager growler to go). Hops subdued under the huge malt presence and I expected some serious rye crispness but didn’t find it.
