The aroma is quite nice and inviting with smoky woody malts vapours along with caramel, plum, fig, and grassy hops esters. The taste had great smoky tones of wood and meat with a malty sweet backbone leading towards a snappy bitter finish. Long woody aftertaste. The mouth feel is chewy and soft with a warming trend. Outstanding and my favorite from the fest, get ya some. xnoxhatex (1305), Grand Rapids/Chicago, Michigan, USA

Big and meaty smoke aroma with dry roast. Flavor is much the same with delicious smoke and sweeter toasted, munich malts. Medium and creamy body. Pretty great. Color is a light golden/amber with a thick tight head. Starting with a light body it goes down easy then a smoky pork taste, its like drinking liquid bacon. This is a good brew, its very interesting and unique. aaaaaaaaaah (63), Warren, Michigan, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Oct 22, 2008 On tap at brewery. Smokey smell like smoked whitefish minus the fish. Initial flavor is sweet and smoky then it is dominated, in a good way, by a smoky meaty flavor. It finishes slightly bitter and fades back to the smoky campfire taste. Overall a great smoked beer. jeremyd365 (109), Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA

Pours pretty normal-lager-looking but with a solid smokey smell. The flavor hits you ever harder--it’s like drinking the complete essence of a campfire. I don’t automatically assume bacon or meat, but definitely campfire. One might not think a smoked beer sounds appealing, but I would definitely recommend people to give it a try anyway, and you may be pleasantly surprised. This one was amazing! | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Oct 2, 2008 The ultimate bacon beer. Liquid smoke, meat juice, and a little malt vinegar bring visions of pork products dancing in my head. Light body, and honestly quite smooth. Not for vegetarians. patrick767 (2051), fort wayne, Indiana, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2007 tap at brewpub - Pours amber with a thin head. It certainly smells smoky. The flavor is kind of like smoked sausage, but I didn’t find the smoke overpowering like I have in a couple smoked beers. The sweet malts balanced the smoke. The finish is pretty much all smoke. Very good. thoramel (39), USA

Definitely a interesting beer, smells and taste is reminiscent of grilling over hickory. While I would recommend giving it a try I think that the flavor would eventually get to me.
