Commercial Description:
Oatmeal and 20 pounds of fresh roasted coffee from the Ugly Mug Cafe contribute to a mildly chalky espresso character balanced by a rich, sweet, creamy maltiness. coffee finish dissolves into chocolate with a slight roasty bitterness.

Tasted at GABF 2008. Coffee nose with some off flavors as well....I wrote down metal. Flavor was coffee, but odd coffee.

Took forever to pour this one as the head just kept exploding out of my glass. Aroma has a decent amout of coffee but there is an odd metallic aroma in there and some lactic notes maybe? Flavor has some coffee in there but there is some sour notes wtf? Theres some wild in my breakfast? Why is there metallic flavor in my breakfast mommy? For real though this is out of a bottle. There is a nice coffee flavor in there but not worth savoring becuase you get punished with sour metal in the finish. So close to drain pour but the good coffee flavor makes this one barely drinkable.

GABF 2008. Near-black, thin brown cap. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the nose. Palate is heavy on the coffee, but chocolate is lost. Pronounced vegetal hop tones in the finish. A tad thin in the mouth. An average take on the coffee stout style.

Tasted 9/19/08. 12oz bottle. Pitch opaque hue with a hissing, crackling beige head. Espresso, cola and dark fruit aromas. Toffee and Tootsie Rolls. Medium bodied with an odd, sour fruit note. Cola and tart. Mild vanilla undertone, but the tart is so off-putting. Not fresh. Not good.

12oz dalekliz got me on her road trip or her mom got it for me, hard to know, great ipa from them and good name I thought it was worth a try. Pours black with a tan ring. Nose is nice with a lot of deep dark coffee and espresso character. Taste is rich and better than I’d expect from the ratings.

12oz bottle via trade with mmm///beer. Aroma is dark coffee, roasted chocolate and some chewy malts. Pours black with no head or lacing. Flavor is watery mocha with a nice roasty finish. Palate is dry. Not a bad brew, but there are many other better coffee stouts.

Thanks to Rogueone for sharing a bottle. What happened here? The beer is dark brownish-black with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Spotty lacing. Sweet fudge aroma with coffee and malt. Watery yet chalky at times and very tart on the tongue. Flavor of bottom-of-the-day-old-pot-of coffee and acidic fruit. The finish is bitter and tart but not in a good way. Luckily I only had a sample of this, because if I had an entire bottle of this it would have been a drain pour. Founders need not worry.
