12oz bottle shared by CharlesDarwin. Nose of sweet candy (tootsie rolls - someone else said it and then I smelled it) and chocolate liquer. Coffee presence is heavy, but sweet. Flavor also leans on the sweet side, with chocolate syrup, cocoa, slick & sweet malts, some nuts, and a heavy presence of godiva chocolate liquer. The coffee itself is very fresh and bright, but the beer overall is a little undercarbonated and/or thin. Still, a decent coffee stout.

Draft at Corner Brewery. Poured dark brown with an average creamy light brown head that lasted with good lacing. Solid roasted coffee and chocolate malt aroma. Medium body with a creamy texture. Solid roasted balanced flavor with a smooth average bittersweet finish of moderate duration.

10 ounce draught mug at the brewpub on June 19, 2007. Opaque dark chocolate, a whisper of foam dies quickly...thankfully, this is not served on nitro, as....the wonderful aroma might have suffered: one of the more intense coffee noses I’ve experiences, yet creamy-sweet like a latte, or maybe a mocacchino with marzipan, chocolate, vanilla and caramel and yes, even some faint "beery" malts; astounding....on the tongue, it’s not as impressive, obviously not as full as it could be, but there’s always a nice interplay between the strong but smooth java character and the dark sweetish roasty malts, caramelized beautifully....low carbonation, a touch watery, not syrupy at all though it never becomes exactly dry, either.

MiBGF 07: Opaque mostly with a small head. Aroma has notes of espresso, chocolate, toast, and smoke. A nice cherry-like tartness over a layer of chocolate with a bitter coffee finish. A nice smoky after tone adds depth. The mouth feel is very smooth and a tad thin. Okay at best but a solid way to start the fest.
