Dec 30, 2008 Way too carbonated...maybe a bad bottle. Flavor of the beer was a bit unbalanced...harsh in the finish. Strong hops and sweet malt, but not the best balance.

Dec 29, 2008 Of course this shit fucking gushed when I opened it. A chocolate, raisin aroma, kind of like a dubbel. Aroma is insanely sweet and then dirty. Kind of a nutty, brown sugar taste. Pretty weird. Im trying really hard to choke this down.

Oct 11, 2008 Poured a very dark amber which seemed highly carbonated and had a thick, light brown head that stayed foamy for awhile. Smells sweet, almost belgian-y with maybe a little hop in there. The flavor is a rich olde ale consistant with others that I have tried (and quite good!). It’s sweet with a bitter finish and a bit of a tart aftertaste. It’s medium-bodied in the mouth and quite drinkable. Seems pretty gentle for 8.5% and well worth the try!

Oct 3, 2008 12 oz bottle: Aroma is big on nice caramel malt, sweet, candy, and lightly fruity on the back end. Appearance is a cloudy amber/red with a really thick off white head that lingers forever. Taste has a really caramel flavor with roasted malts, lightly fruity with light citrus notes, bready and a some hop texture. Palate is sweet on the lips, and an aftertaste of roasted caramel malts. Overall, It’s a decent Old Ale a little understated in my honest opinion. Cheers!!

Sep 28, 2008 nice reddish-copper hue with a cream-colored, toward beige, head. a little more carbonated than i expected an old ale to be, with a very estery and fruity aroma. slightly sweet but not cloying; some fusel alcohols behind it. flavor matches the aroma fairly well, with a dry astringency which isn’t apparent in the aroma. malty and enjoyable - a nice winter warmer.

Jan 4, 2008 Dark purple. Medium sweet plum and Chianti with cherry flavored malts up front turning more towards some bitter but fresh resinous, oily hops. Sweet but decently balanced. Only complaint would be that it doesn’t stand out, and it’s not decadent enough to stand on it’s own as a mellow, soft old ale.

Dec 10, 2007 sample at brewpub. Very fruity and hoppy, it has a complex taste and a texture that I like, but the taste of the alcohol is a little too prominent.
