Commercial Description:
The Jackhammer is a very dark brown ale with a nice reddish hue. Offering a welcome warming sensation, it has a rich malty sweetness. Fruity esters, expected in this style beer, add to the already complex palate and help to provide an immensely satisfying experience!

Pitcher at ABC tasting. Sweet malt aroma and flavor with a little hop bitterness at the end. Easy drink just lacks in categories.

Pitcher pour at Arbor tasting event. Ruby red color. No head, no lacing. Nice musty old leather smells, somewhat sweet in aroma. Nice hopping balances malt bill well. Alcohol is barely perceptible. Good!

Clear copper with a small white head. Sweet carmal and tobacco aroma. The flavor exhibits more tobacco and lots of earthiness. Light floral hops. Medium dry body. Earthy and interesting.

Fairly deep copper color. Definitely some sweet notes. I had with a plain old cheeseburger, it matched pretty well, however, I was pretty drunk when I drank this. Nothing entirely remarkable about this beer, but it’s something I would contemplate buying again.

The only ABC beer I've had with suspended yeast and some sedimentary heftiness. Ultimately a bit too sweet for style, I think, in all aromatic and flavor aspects. Should be more deeply musty, leathery and with a bit thinner palate, and smokier. Quite fruity - the menu description say "chocolate covered cherries" and indeed they've accomplished some of that - English strong-ish, but not complex or sharp.

Wow. This is a hell of a beer, beautiful in the glass and kaleidoscopic in flavour as it allows you to experience a rich and spicy shock of alcohol, a rise of berry-and-chocolate in the malt, and a scant dry breath of hops at close. Only the alt is better in the ABC portfolio.
