Commercial Description:
A surprisingly easy-drinking dark ale with a medium body, malty palate and a smooth dry finish. Our alt is brewed in the tradition of the German "sticke" or "secret" alt which was a fuller, darker, and higher alcohol alt served unadvertised by German brewpubs at regular ale prices as a reward to regular customers who knew to ask for it.

Pours a molten crayon brown with ruby highlights. So very dark brown! Immense head of foamy beige threatens to overtake the glass. Aggressive and boisterous. Aromas of cocoa powder, nut, and a bit of tin. Washes over the palate with toasty nut goodness, leafy hoppiness, chocolate, and a smidge of lactic sour. Too sweet for me in an alt. Faint hints of an organic craft root beer of all things. FInishes with a dry snap and a lingering tinny shadow.

welldone..dark brown body with massive beige head...aroma is somewhat lacking but has sort of a chocolate earthy backbone; creamy body gives rise to the nutty chocolate, caramel, and toasted flavor profile....nice palate

Dark with big frothy off white head. A flavor mix of nut, cocoa, and wood hints. But all flavors and the mouthfeel itself are very light.

Pours dark brown with some ruby around the edges, very carbonated, lots of tan bubbles, head never gave up, it was always there, aromas of bread, caramel and dark malt, faint brown sugar, molasses and hints of licorice, faint floral fragrance, very bubbly in the mouth, flavor of malt sweetness, dark malt with some fruit, some taste of pumpernickel bread, sweet on the palate that turns dry quickly, light fruit taste, finishes dry with some bitterness, the carbonation gets in the way of the taste, could have used a little less carbo in this beer.

Served with a deep garnet body under a halo of ecru. No notes on the aroma, but the flavor produced a dry, mild roastiness with earthen notes and a touch of sweetness. Raw in character but pretty good.

12 oz bottle. Pretty standard altbier here. Dark brown pour, light aroma, and a nice malty body. Overall, pretty decent.

Brown body with reddish tint and a tiny whispy head. The aroma is vienna, grassy, light roast and chocolate. The flavor is light chocolate, light molases and herbal. Medium/light body wtih soft carbonation and a dry finish.
