Jul 14, 2006 On tap at the brewpub on 4/27/06: Pours a dark brown mahogany with a thin-lacing off-white head. Big, earthy sweet, light soy sauce aroma has some slightly roasted malts and mild DMS. Body starts with sweet, slightly earthy maltiness, turning drier toward a crisp toasty bitter finish. Fairly authentic, but could use more balance.

Jun 5, 2006 The body was very dark brown with some ruby highlights. The aroma was licorice with chocolate covered cherries. The taste was weak coffee. There was also some vanilla and some mlik chocolate. This was decent.

May 6, 2006 On tap at the Arbor Brew Pub. Poured a dark brown color with a small sized off white head. Aromas of nuts, light smoke, roast and some dark fruits. Tastes of nuts, roast, and some caramel.

May 5, 2006 Draft @ Arbor Brewing: A hazy and very dark brown color with a small creamy tan head. Light aroma with some sweetness and a fair amount of chocolate.. Malty flavor with notes of chocolate, a light roast and hint of coffee.

Mar 2, 2006 Tap at the brewpub in MI- Dark chestnut in appearance - I think we all agreed on chestnut :) - Almost opaque, with some light penetrating when held up to the light. Sports a thin ring of beige head. Nutty aroma with some mild roasted malt, raisin bread, and black cherries in the nose. Sweet nutty earthy flavours mix well with the subtle hops bite, and finish with a woody caramel. Smooth and drinkable all the way. Good brew from Arbor again!

Feb 27, 2006 draught. deep chestnut with a small white head. aroma has some caramel stickiness and sugar. earthy caramel and bread flavours with a subtle clean finish. pretty tasty.

Jan 18, 2006 Dark clear brown burnt, with orange fringes and light rim of off-white. Light euro hop aroma. Effervescent, with toothy chewy grains, deliciopus horse blanket and some earth. Grains, oats and more pungent hops. Well balanced and lucious. Palate is smooth, airy and glowing. Finish is sweet. A light sour lemon at the end. Exemplary for the style.

Jan 3, 2006 Deep translucent cherry-cola brown in color with only a tiny wrung for the head. Cocoa puffs with Hershey syrup start the aroma, joining semi-sweet chocolate morsels, coca-cola, and hot chocolate dust blended with caramel and chocolate toffee. Subtle sweetness of milk chocolate from the lunch line. Dry, dark chocolate cocoa dust and a cafe mocha consumed after a week of neglect in the car cup holder. Light fairing palate presence with a hop selection that might be a little too perilous. Finishes like a weak diner coffee. Definitely a unique alt.
