I catch something like sawdust in there. Cinnamon, caramel, like a caramel apple actually. Quite a pleasant smell. Tastes a little musty and hoppy, leading to quite an earthy finish. I wish it would have tasted much more like it had smelled. I have had worse. Indra (2036), Prairie Village, Kansas, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 7, 2003 Malty, lightly toasted and sweet aroma, with a healthy amount of earthy, floral, fruity and very citrusy hop, does have a tiny bit of witch hazel-like astringency, though. Hazy medium amber-orange color, some sediment and particulates, with a full, creamy, and lasting head. Flavor profile is quite hop-oriented, with a dose of juicy, citric bitterness, largely hiding the faintly sweet, caramel, toasty maltiness. Some rather out-of-place tartness in the finish. Almost good. Falconseye8 (525), Cartersville, Georgia, USA

Just seem to all taste good. Very Nice. Not overtly bitter. Nice combination of Sweet/bitter again. Not as good as Tommyknocker was but its very good. Wrath (362), Valparaiso, Indiana, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 29, 2003 There are so many pales ales on the market. It seems like every brewer has to have one in the lineup. Arcardia's offering pours out to a light amber in the glass with a decent head. Nose is that of light fruit and hops. The taste is good, but doesn't grab you in the way that many pales do when the hop twang hits on the swallow. A good beer to recommend to those who haven't been exposed to the style.

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Aug 10, 2003 In bottle: Hazy copper hue with floaties running through it. Head started large but quicky diminished like that were scared away by a big bad bear, was some lacing. Aroma was off. The nice pine, fruit, nut, and roasted malts were okay, detected a band-aid medical smell that detracted from this beer. Hoppy bite with some malty sweetness on the palate, dry finish. Thin to medium-bodied, moderately astringent feel. The least favorite of the Arcadia line, I really love this brewery for thier traditional English-style beers. | 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jun 1, 2003 I was intrigued by the mention of bubblegum in several reviews of this beer, and I was happily surprised by the sweet gum aroma of Anglers Ale. Flavor is malty, much like a Bass Pale Ale, with a hint of sweet bubblegum and a touch of hops, although this element could have been stronger. Still a nice brew.
