| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 13, 2004 Densely clouded amber hue, thick head formation. Piney grapefruit aroma, mild seasonal spice (not sure if this is a winter seasonal, but very fitting),.sweet candy sugar and mild caramel. Complex palate, grapefruit harsh bitterness jumps out immediately, but it’s very well balanced with candy cane sweetness and mild cookie dough. Biting citrus in the finish but again very well tempered by a long lingering candy aftertaste. Excellent brew. Special thanks to mikemcallister. jah noth (1016), Rochester, New York, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Nov 16, 2004 Bottle: Real nice fruity and citrus aroma with some nice hop balance. Pours a very dark hazy amber, almost brown, with a some sediment. Nice off-white head with decent retention. Great lacing. Malty up front with fruit, caramel, and raison and a nice balanced hoppy finish. Verry impressive. JPDIPSO (4906), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 3, 2004 Lightly cloudy dark amber color with a small dense cream colored head with heavy chunks of lace. Caramel coated hops aromas. Lightly citric and pine hops in the nose. Smooth light feel which thickens as it warms and still is very smooth. Initial caramel malt initializes the flavor which is take back by the hops. Mild pine and grapefruit flavors swim through the middle of this one, and then give way to some nice malt flavors again the the finish. Linger has hops resin all over the place which distracts slightly but the flavors of the malt in the next swig help assuage this minor fault. Nice balance and flavor throughout. Thanks John. | 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 10, 2004 Pours a lightly hazy mahogany copper with a thick, thin-lacing cream-colored head. Aroma is busting with fresh grapefruity hop resin and a touch of crystal malt. Body has a good dry caramel maltiness to it that balances the fresh bittering hops very well. I guess this falls into the English IPA category due to the malt billing despite the aggresive and appealing hoppiness. A very unique and flavorful beer nonetheless. Many thanks to wohlfs and Silphium for this brew! JasonG (700), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

Aroma is full of citrusy hops, crisp and clear. Flavor is hoppy and bitter, but has a good amount of malt background. A very well balabnced IPA but very big overall. I really enjoyed this brew, and this was a bit of a surprise.
