yobdoog (1420), Woodridge NY, New York, USA Nov 3, 2009 Draft and bottle. Aroma is strong. Sweet, dry, earthy and faint yeasty spice. Flavor is odd, earthy, some wood and toffee. A bit of odd roasted bitterness and smooths out as it warms. Not bad. Pawola22 (676), Kansas City, Missouri, USA Sep 23, 2009 22oz bottle. Pours a clear, but murky colored dark amber-orange body with a finger-width, beige, foamy head that dissipates quickly and leaves a veil of soapy lacing. Aroma is medium, milky caramels with some vanilla, whiskey-diet soda, light milk chocolate malts, and nuts. A very mild fruit and leafy hop spice too. Flavor is definitely "crisp" as described. Leafy caramels and chocolate malts with a distinct crispness up front before some vanilla, nuts, and more of that mild fruitiness from the aroma come in. A touch of bourbon, and a light amount of clutching, leafy bitterness finishes this off with a nutty, caramel maltiness making it both smooth and easy as well as crisp and mostly dry. Medium bodied with a soft carbonation and very drinkable for an 8% ABV beer. No trace of alcohol until just a slight warmth creeps into the throat. Overall, a pretty solid, slightly above average old ale. Very drinkable and crisp flavored all-around. I like the added hop spice that the finish provides giving the malts a nice opposition. Enjoyable enough. keepersj12 (774), Sicklerville, New Jersey, USA Sep 15, 2009 Loved it. Pours a cloudy mud color with a small head. Aroma of dark dried fruit like prune and raisins. Flavor is a bit sour and sweet at the same time. Nice sour finish. PorterPounder (3132), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 16, 2009 Eagan, Mn. - Cellars Wines and Spirits - 22 oz bomber. Pours a sparkling medium copper with a thin but persistent off white head that leaves decent lacing. Aroma has some hints of vanilla, bourbon and a wee bit of vinegar. Flavor has some of the same vanilla notes, a bit of bourbon, a hint of banana-like fruitiness. Slightly boozy. Mouthfeel is thick enough. Just average. ScottyP (314), Brentwood, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Pours a copper with beige head. Aroma of malt, bread, caramel, grass, some alcohol. Similar taste. Similar taste, fruity up front with a light hop finish. Not as bold of a finish as I anticipated. curly (548), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Hazy brown, thick creamy tan head. Aroma is grapefruit and sweet pine. Taste is decent, some bitter hop and noticeable roast. Mostly sweet and syrupy. Finishes with sweet roast. Butters (1622), Virginia, USA Aug 2, 2009 Bomber from Barrios’ Massechussetts Trip Tasting. Hazy orange amber pour with fair wispy near white head. Sweet and malty all around. A little abv is noticable, but barely. Brown sugar and caramel malt. Okay, but nothing to write home about. Cool name. Barrios (852), Nashville, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2009 Pours a copper color body and a beige head with legs. Flavors of toffee, biscuit, fig. Warming. Thin.
